Drives me nuts that they dont broadcast anything about the Modified tour race at Bristol tonight.

MSNBC is going to run the replay next Wednesday night.

I think it was two years ago (or maybe last year?) the night race rained out, so they ran Sunday afternoon.
It ain’t the same

Wait... the race is on Fox broadcast...
Does that mean we have to tolerate two more hours of DW?

I wonder if small track attendance across America takes a hit when there is a Saturday night cup race?

Was it Kyle Petty that said years ago that he wished they would fill it with water and stock it with bass.

I can remember the only way a non season ticket holder was able to get a night race ticket was to buy a diecast car for $1200 that included 2 "free"tickets.Times have changed, and now I believe you can get tickets for any Bristol race at face value.

Go 4 !

I can remember the time, and that not long ago, that the whole area would suffer from Bristol hysteria. Grocery stores 50 miles from the track would get blown up during both race weeks. I had friends paying 2-3x face value for tickets. The Tri-Cities were pretty much a no-go during race week due to the traffic. Often as early as the Tuesday before the race. I was out yesterday, just a normal day.

Now tickets are available day of. But IMO they’ve priced themselves out of sellouts. Never mind that Bristol isn’t as fun as it was 20 years ago.

It really is.
I think the first time I saw it was on ESPN SportsCenter (back then, at the time it happened).

Real-time Doppler radar for Bristol area. The track is located just south of where I-81 crosses the TN/VA line. You can zoom in by using the cursor to draw a box around the area of interest.

Pretty good. There's some small thunderboomers moving this way from around Knoxville at the moment. They may halt the race, but as steep as the track is banked, it can be dried (relatively) quickly.

ETA: Try this site http://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=oss;r=0;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=;n=0;y=37.3571;x=-80.8621;z=8;d=2;dl=2;dc=0;ts=0;. It shows real time lightning strikes and can be zoomed like the radar map.

I'll have the race on, but probably won't be posting here, or be on Zello during the race.
