My brother-in-law passed away again.
He died a few days ago, then he died tomorrow. Three days ago we get the call from overseas that my wife's brother has passed of brain cancer. Not a surprise as he's been sick awhile. We spend time talking with his adult kids, and my sister-in-law. Then three hours later we find out that he's not dead but rather he's being sent home to die with his family around him. WTF? He passed about an hour ago on the 19th, they're on the other side of the date line. He was a good man. |

I don't think people 10 or 15 years younger than me actually realize what it was like to grow up in my generation. We watched The Waltons every week as a family and my sister and I watched the Rudolph movie and The Grinch Christmas show every year. Kids were actually allowed to be kids and not trandgender science experiments back then, and we were better off for it. /geezercomplaint |

I've got the boil stoked with fuel and the house is a nice warm 72 degrees. It's the first fire of the season so I'm burning buck thorns getting my revenge! I really need to get my wood burning situation squared away. House has a fake brick fireplace the original owner was going to put electric logs in (). I've got a wood burning insert I bought to install and run to a real flue outside. Problem is the walls are like foot thick brick, so I'll need someone to bore through it, and I need to redo the "firebox" to better accommodate the insert. Both take money which is in increasingly short supply. If I had the space I'd do a standalone stove, which would certainly be easier, but unfortunately I don't. I will have wood heat in this house eventually. Almost sacrilege to have a nearly 2 century old home without it. |

We did get very spoiled by this Fall though. Probably one of the best for as long as I can remember. I had the house open for at least a week in October. Barely ran the HVAC at all. |

We have about 2" of powder on the ground. Couple more due tonight.
With the wind gusting so hard the driveway snow just blows away. 11 degrees is tonight's low. Sunday will be colder down to 4 degrees. |
