One of my absolute favorites.  Not the shit you get out of a pre-packaged container but deli olive loaf.  Some tomato, onion and mayonnaise.  The salty briney olive loaf mixed with the mater juice makes for some seriously good eat.

Should look like this...

Not like this...

Just have them cut it at #6 on the slicer. You want it thick enough the olives don't fall out.

yes, but the local deli's olive loaf is too salty.  I prefer the Italian delis in SF but the commute is over 1,300 miles.

I like me some olive loaf. And pickle and pimento loaf.

And since we're talking lunchmeat, this stuff is freaking delicious!

I dig it but my wife and kids won't touch the stuff.

I haven't had it in years. I reckon the next trip to the deli
I will!!!

That's the thing. The Oscar Meyer stuff is just ok. But getting it sliced off a big loaf is da bomb

Salty. Briney. No cheese believe it or not. Not a Sammy you want cheese on. Takes away the flavor of the olive loaf.

Mater is mandatory.

just vomited after seeing that.

now change that all to jalapenos and we may be talking.

but it's all "pre-packaged" at a deli, bro. They simply slice it there. You don't think any animal is actually born in the shape of the loaf with olives dispersed in them, do you?

Well it's like the difference between bologna you get from oscar meyer in a press pack vs a full loaf sliced.  So yes, there is a huge difference.

Good bologna = good.
Good olive loaf = much better than good.

Dammit OP. Now I have to find a local deli that carries that!  I'll never be satisfied with the prepackaged stuff again.

Just hit up the deli counter at Kroger. Doesn't have to be a  nice deli. Just has to sliced off a full loaf full of olives. Same with getting a nice Bologna.

Doesn't have to be perfect. Just sliced off a full loaf.

Loved it as a kid.   With Wine Chese, on a hoagie roll.

Recently got some to share with my kids, but it was pretty disgusting.   Very disappointing.

Pro tip:  Don't buy the Boars Head.    Tastes like liverwurst.

I need to figure out what brand I used to like.

Sounds good, I put sliced green olives on bologna sandwiches already, I guess I just didn't know what olive loaf was.  I'll try it.

Picked up some from the deli today because of this thread.

It didn't have as many olives as the picture at the top of the thread, but it is still good!

Yeah, I'd eat it. Haven't had that stuff in over 30 years, but I didn't mind it, although it's an odd looking food.
