Name a profession that is portrayed as noble and self-sacrificing, but is really not more special than any other job.
I'll start: nurse. |

Engineers.
Gun instructors. People who talk about their service in the military, when they were never deployed. Let's see how many people I piss off |
|
Looking for my 11-foot pole.
(...for the threads I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole) |

DMV staff. They always act pretty noble, anyway. Like you're pissing in their cereal because you made them work

Engineers
They're right up there with crossfit people and vegans. It's like they can't keep from talking about it. My BIL is a Dr. He's a pretty good guy but I swear people act like he's bringing people back from the dead every day. We were working on something one time and my mom chimed in "Be careful of Alex's hands, we don't want him getting hurt." I looked at her and asked if she thought I made money with my good looks. |

I'll be the bad guy:
40% of the FF/LEO's out there. They do it for the perks, status symbol, and power. |

NRA instructors are the quintessential fart smellers of our society.

I think the real question is, what's an actual noble profession?
It's not the profession that's noble, it's the person. |
|
All of them. People go to work because of money and sometimes it gives them personal satisfaction. But ain't no one sacrificing everything without some sort of benefit.

Doctor -- fat, stinky, unhealthy behaving, gross people with diseases.
Social Justice Worker -- phonies who claim virtue by supposedly helping other people but are generally just socialists pushing their agenda. Teacher -- a bunch of entitled whiners who think their profession deserves to be a monopoly. Fire Fighters -- basically OD/drunk and old-people government ambulance/first aid workers who also know how to point a hose at stuff. Should be a short term gig for strong young people, not a lifelong entitlement with absurd pension benefits. |

View Quote DOCTOR ALL DAMN DAY you can demand full compensation for complete failure, you only talk to your customer for 3-5 min and they think you're God, and you can treat people like cattle and they have no recourse I know there are some doctors that don't do this most of them are concierge/private practice and they probably aren't taking new patients. Good luck finding a good doc at a big box hospital...rare breed. |

Priests and ministers. At best they're taking money and selling an afterlife fairy tale. You're literally paying for nothing. At worst they're ass raping little boys while the church hierarchy covers it up. |

I think university professors (you know, the tenured guys at real research universities) are very noble, and incredibly humble ... and also very attractive.
Like beautiful graceful gods, really. Nothing over-rated about those magnificent human beings at all. |
