Weight is important in space, a real space gun would use titanium and aluminum as much as possible in place of steel. There is a light weight build thread that would be good to look at. Not sure about carbon fiber in space though. Heat management is a real problem. Gold plating as much as possible would help. I'd rather use a gold plated AKS-74U that had substantial titanium replacement parts. Can you imagine a gold plated titanium AK? That would be awesome! AR15s are prone to issues with the wrong lubricant in extreme cold and space would have wild fluctuations in temp. Careful selection of lubricant or coatings is a must.

Great work man! Way nicer than my SF Build... which is just a 7.62x39 with colorfill, 15" diamondhead, minimalist stock and a few blue parts (LPK, CH, Buffer Tube). All these damn special lowers (and recent PS90 acquisition) don't leave a ton of money left over for parts to complete them all... I'll go be middle class elsewhere now....

PSA was kind enough to send me that serial # by request for working on the Door Gunner design. 69' is the year Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Sorta fitting.
For those commenting on the thumb hole stock. I won’t lie to you, I hate it. I have large hands; I cannot operate the safety selector with my firing hand with this stock. The design works for this build, but I will never use or own a thumb hole stock for any of my regular rifles. This could be my own fault though, I reduced the rear opening to make it less obtuse in shape (didn't reduce height though so who knows). I started this build very budget. That’s why it has a VISM Delta scope, I didn’t want to buy something like an ACOG, and then stick in in a sand blasting cabinet. I also bought a VISM thumbhole stock for thirty bucks online. Unlike the scope, which is not even remotely water repellent (learned this during disassembly), the butt stock is a tank. But just so fugly, I didn’t want to use it! I ordered a Hera thumbhole stock, it is a much more attractive stock, and built well. But while I waited on the Hera to show, I started working up a completely new design on a cardboard box. I saved the Hera and went back to the VISM keeping the grip and buffer cover lower section, but I cut the rest of it to pieces. I used a lot of aluminum, fiberglass, and epoxy resins, to get the stock to the shape I wanted. Nearly all of the parts were remaining bits from other builds, including the rail, and most of the internals. Many of the recycled parts were loaded into the mill and modified. The mag release pieces, bolt release, and takedown pins where all left over from other builds and milled. If I remember correctly, the upper receiver, barrel, 10 round Pmag, JMT trigger, BCG, and a few springs are the only other parts I bought just for this build. The Lowers is from PSA. I’ve got more money in 6061 aluminum, fiberglass, epoxy, and paint, that I do the build parts. Aluminum is not cheap these days, that stuff has increased in price two fold in under five years. As for build pics, those are limited; I really didn’t think the rifle would end up like it did. I would finish one idea and think of a new one. I worked on the rifle for about three weeks after work, including a few long weekends.

I wasn't a big fan of the optic I used for the SpaceForce-15 build. It was purchased back when I was only planning for a budget rifle. The rifle grew into something else, the optic just didn't work for me after that. Nothing particularly wrong with the Vism optic, its new, it works, it just didn't fit the build IMO. As a throwback to the original M-16 design, I made a carry handle that houses a Trijicon RMR RM09 in grey. It is not a perfect solution, but I do like it better. Image is below, along with the modified manual. I also completed USB 3.0 output for the HUD. The original design used a blue laser and small spy camera that are not mounted together. The laser was adjustable, the camera was not (meaning the laser would NOT be centered if adjusted). I have dissembled an older go pro camera, and am working on a machining a carriage housing for both the camera and laser together. It will allow for an image that is centered to the laser. I am also working on a way to etch a reticle into the gopro lens. More to come on that later.

It will not cost you anything, I'll even pay for shipping (upper 48 states only). Granted, it's not a Trijicon by any means, but its new, works, and may fit your build better than mine. Here is what I am asking for: 1. You gotta be an ARFCOM member to win, so if you are not, signing up is not expensive (I am NOT affiliated with ARFCOM in ANY way, I just want the optic to go to a supporter). 2. Post a picture of your build (Completed and or in progress is OK. Hell, even a description or drawing will work, but I want to see an image of your space force lower at minimum. 3. Ya gotta promise to post pics of the optic on your finished build. That's it. After we get a handful of builds posted, I will try and set up a poll for members to vote on who's build would work well with this optic. If a poll will not work, I may just pick a cool build and contact you for shipping info. Dunno. The fun is in the thread and building a new rifle. 
Also, PSA has selected three more Spaceforce designs, for future release! The selector markings and serial are still up for debate, but the names are SpaceWalker-15, SpaceRider-15, & SpaceRover-15.
