All I know is I have a 70 dollar polydrive #10 long reach socket that I have used once. Fucking oddball Audi cylinder head bolt that was used a couple years.  It does bite good though.

Flat heads are a thing of the past and could go away.  Phillips are okay but suck if the screw is buggered up at all or the tip is a bit worn.  Torx works great.  My camper is full of square head screws that work okay.

Much better than Phillips, so is JIS, but all suck compared to torx.

Flathead screwdrivers make good chisels and pry bars. Doubly nice when you could swap them out at Sears for no charge.

Phillips isn't an actual standard.  it's a training tool to show people how things shouldn't work.

torx for me, tyvm.

Straights/flatheads suck donkey dick. Pointless, and always on mile-long screws. Philips is a bit better, but still obsolete.

Hex heads works great, but can't be countersunk. Torx is a big step up from philips, harder to strip, and they sit on the bit without falling off. I still prefer hex heads, but again, they can't be countersunk for flush-fit applications.

I'm thinkin' he meant these, and I'd rather use a nut driver than a screwdriver any day.

Torx is better.  I used them on my deck when I first moved in and stripped a percentage of them.  When I did about a 2/3's rebuild of the deck, I used torx and didn't strip any of them.

Until it gets all shitted up.  Then phillips, because you can still get a flathead in there if you need to.

Screw extractors fit right into a torx, no drilling required.

I edited the title.  I agree that Torx is the best and Phillips is the worst.

The only thing Phillips head bits are good for is removing primer crimps from brass.
