if I could afford a plane, I would be interested in a sea plane. its not sporty, and likely slow for a plane, but the entire concept is awesome. always loved the idea of being able to land on water, opens up a lot of places. wheels for civilized airstrips, and a boat for out of the way places, islands, remote places, etc.

I like the boat style plane over the pontoon style as to me they are a lot more rugged, and less tippy, so your much less likely to flip it when landing on water.

It's sad there isn't a single P-61 flying today.

That airplane just showed up too late to have the numbers that could survive.

I am hoping that I will see this bird fly.   Restoring a P-61B

Cheetah, because nostalgia.

A10, because BRRRRRRRRRRT.

Hunter, because simplicity is beautiful.

Just finished this profile illustration. Many years ago l also designed the ORANG crest that was used as the tail flash.

F-15 is the only fighter jet I have any time in so yeah, it's definitely my favorite.

Well the SR-71 is my favorite but surprised that a B-1 hasn’t shown up here yet.

So many to choose from -- the ones my dad flew in WWII [PB2Y], the one he flew as a private pilot [Mooney 21], the ones I worked on in the 70s [F15 A/B], racing planes from the 30s, military aircraft of many varieties -- the list is almost endless.

However, if I won the lottery, and could afford a perfect example, I'd buy one of these before anything else. Ryan STA.

When I was a youngin, we had a small cabin on a decent sized lake in the north. This was in the 80s just when the money was starting to move in. One morning when I was out fishing and a float plane landed, I thought how cool would that be. Alas, save for a huge windfall, it'll never happen for a working stiff like me.

It does open up the world, any backwater with a sizable pond becomes a landing strip. Seems to me that would be an ultimate luxury.

At first I wasn't going to post, because I like a lot of planes.

Then realized it's a plane picture thread so who cares?
