What are you in the mood for?

Casablanca is good for love.

Notorious is good for love and a bit of suspense.

Double Indemnity is good for watching lovers go bad.

Gun Crazy is similar and influenced Tarantino if you like him

The Third Man has interesting characters and style. It was on TV the other day and someone made a thread about it.

All of those are good noir films.  I teach film so I get to watch these all of the time. I love it.

I've been exploring *old* movies lately and have found some most entertaining films. Have you seen "The General" (1926) with Buster Keaton or "Mr. Robinson Crusoe" (1932) with Douglas Fairbanks?

They are both highly entertaining, enough to put more Keaton and Fairbanks films on my must watch list.

BTW, they're mostly fun, and less serious.

I have not seen either, but I am compiling a list from this thread.  I have been finding myself enjoying old movies.

Also started watching the original Twighlight Zone.

Not sure if classic, but I just watched “M “ with a young peter lorre.its in German with English subtitles, 1931. Thought it was great!! ETA it’s rentable on amazon, thought the subject matter was odd for that time in Germany, directed by fritz Lange, very scary!

@flyhack72

I always figured The Third Man would make a good classroom study on lighting and use of shadows.  Not my trade (film or teaching).

Want to see a weird classic movie?

Tod Browning's Freaks (1932)

Quite a different subject for the period, but still a good movie.

Lifeboat is one of my favorites, It was Hitchcock's answer to some critics at the time that thought he was a little soft on Nazis in that he left England during the war.

I don't want to spoil the end of the movie from 1944, The last line of the movie is "What do you do with people like that"?
