Cooking on a shovel probably ruins the temper.

i no longer have access to a lathe but i've always wanted to turn down a cold steel bat into an indestructible handle for the spetznaz shovel.

@JLPettimoreIII tell me more about this idea, I might just give it a shot. Which Brooklyn bat has the right handle length/diameter to be modified to use with the SF shovel? How do you remove/replace the handle on the shovel?

welp, since i no longer have access to a lathe i kinda stopped going down the rabbit hole of which bat to use.

i did find a local plastics place that sells some HD plastic rod of a similar material.

would make a nice handle as well if one had access to a lathe.

for attachments my plan was to:

a) insert plastic shovel handle after fitting

2) drill through existing holes into plastic handle

3) drill through other side of shovel socket as well

4) install stainless steel bolt/flat washer x2/spring washer/nut

With your permission I may pick that up where you left it. The shovel + one of their bats is only like $50-60 total, and if I can find a place that will modify the bat to work as a handle for less than $100 I’m gonna fo

So is the cold steel better than a $30 shirt handled army surplus knockoff? Saw some last weekend at a local AS store.

Received my shovel, it’s awesome. I cut a cardboard box with it that it got delivered in.
Got the sheath too.
Now it lives under the seat in my truck.
Will order another for my work truck
