The ACRO is disappointing. Not to sound too blunt but there is no comparison between the SRO and RMR I owned a RMR-06 type 1 for over a year in a Jagerwerks cut G34. Flawless over thousands of rounds. I heard about battery flicker but didn’t experience it so I added a Battlwerx plate during a battery swap. I saw the SRO at the NRA show and immediately wanted one because of the slightly large objective. Ordered one and installed it on my G34 moving my type 1 to a Scalarworks mount for a PCC. The SRO broke within the first 300 rounds. Dot wouldn’t come on, swapped battery, dead. Reached out to Trijicon and they were great. Sent the SRO back on their dime and told them I wanted it replaced with a new RMR-06 type 2. I’ve since bought a second type 2 for an Agency Arms AOS cut G17.5 In my opinion the SRO looked great, had a great objective size but was flawed from the beginning. Sage Dynamics Aaron Cowan came out with a video on the SRO soon after release and broke his during testing (which is abusive but nothing you shouldn’t expect on a duty item) by cracking the glass on a drop test. The SRO should only be used on a competition gun or range toy from what I’ve seen. RMR type 2 is king and was recently adopted by US Special Forces for their G19 MOS followed closely by the Holosun (which seems to be well built and is building its track record) from what I’ve learned from guys that make my ammo budget look shameful. I'm pretty sure they will do a v2 sooner or later and make it a little bigger for a better battery. Once you have one on your pistol you will see that the battery life is really not a big deal. |

When I put a RMR on my carry gun I learned that I sucked at presenting from the holster. After a couple hundred rounds it's like cheating. Like others have said it's different than irons. I focus on the target and bring the gun up with both eyes open. It's all about presenting the gun in a way that places it so the dot lines up between your eyes and the target. |

I’m not “resistant” to the handgun RDS, I’ve shot quite a few and will continue to do so, and might swap over on my carry gun one of these days, particularly as my eyes get older. As of right now though, the dot only improves my ability to hit small thing and/or distant things (awesome for 3-gun, USPSA, etc), but up close and human sized... I’m still faster with irons. For somebody starting from scratch, I can see how starting off with the dot might be beneficial. |

But shooting into the sky is different than shooting at lower angles.... I have never tried any sort of RDS on my shotguns. My gun with the Holosun is a strictly defensive shotgun. It shoots steel, paper, and the occasional critter. |

Quoted: Durability issues. I've personally seen a bunch of them fail. The battery contacts in the circuit boards would come loose under recoil and require factory replacement. I've seen it happen before and after Leupold "fixed" the issue. Pretty much. For a while they were going to be the killer app...but then they started shitting the bed regularly because it turns out life on top of a slide is hard. Aimpoint developed the ACRO around the metric of surviving 20,000 rounds on top of a G22 because the G22 is one of the most abusive applications for a slide mounted RDS, and the G22 happens to have been the sidearm used by some high speed military people who had been early on the slide-mounted RDS thing and had tried lots of ways to get it. I'd guess the ACRO was an attempt to solve their problems and Aimpoint thought if it would be good enough for them, everyone else would want it too. |
