Around noon. East suburbs of Columbus (East Main Street in Reynoldsburg if you must know).
I am approaching a major intersection heading east, and the light turns from green to red, so I stop. I am the first car stopped in the eastbound lanes at the light. I see the flashing lights of a motorcycle cop behind me. He rolls past me, into the middle of the intersection, and I see it is a Sheriff's Deputy. Then I see the hearse coming up in my rear view mirror, along with the very long funeral procession of cars behind it, all with the purple flags on their antennae. Out of respect, I remove my hat as the hearse passes (I always do that). The cop has blocked all traffic and is motioning with his left hand for the rest of the funeral procession cars to come through the intersection. But the light is red, and one of the cars stops, even though the cop is waving them to proceed through the red light. I have a front row seat to all of what follows now. The deputy ABSOLUTELY LOSES HIS SHIT. The guy has a fucking melt down. I can hear him shouting and swearing at the top of his lungs at the procession driver that stopped, as he furiously and frantically waves his arm. He is red in the face with rage, stomping his boot on the pavement. You had to see this to believe it. I thought the deputy was going to have a stroke right there in the intersection. I'm thinking to myself, "Jesus Christ, dude! Maybe switch to decaf?!?" Finally the procession driver causing the log jam starts moving. I get it that must be a very stressful job, but WOW. You had to see this to get the full effect of it. It was kind of creepy. Just thought I'd share. If you are an LEO in these crazy times we are in, remember to take a vacation once in awhile when you need to. CLIFF'S NOTES - TL/DR: - Dead people (not in a hurry). - Dumb ass driver, probably an old lady, holds up traffic. - So officer! Much rage! - No annoying vertical video, to prevent OP from being curb stomped to death . |

You will never see the true depths of human stupidity until you have directed traffic at a major intersection.

Honestly dont get the procession stuff.
Have seen two of them in person through work and honestly the last thing I would want. Cremate me and do whatever with my ashes, flush me or toss me in the trash for all I care. Just for the love of god dont hold up traffic. |

Your afraid of a funeral cop, waving his hands, stomping his feet, and yelling at a driver enough not to shoot video or pics ?? Given the enormous amount of stories posted on here with neither pics or videos, when people have their phones on them 24/7...and have the opportunity to use them, makes me wonder how many of them actually happened. |

It wasn't that Dewitt guy (serial police impersonator) was it?

LEOs don't do funerals out here unless it is for a LEO. It is a service the funeral home provides. ($$$)

Perhaps the same driver had been doing the same thing at multiple lights.

You haven't seen rage until you've seen a trooper throw a flare through someones open passenger side window while yelling "You fuck! You stupid bitch!"

Monday 5th, observed day for the 4th, a funeral procession is on I-75 north out of Knoxville. Completely fucking up traffic.
Give people the address for the burial and let them get their on their own. The deceased isn't in a hurry nor gives a shit so don't fuck up everyone else's drive... |

I was in a stupid fucking procession thru Detroit relying on ZERO Cops, only the driving public, to realize they had better stop for us.
NEVER AGAIN. i think someone did get in accident. How the fuck do they allow this to happen? |

I never worked motors.
The only times I’ve lost composure was traffic related though. I have a flare pattern that is visible to the ISS and you drive over them because you need to go “that way”. Fuck you, people are dead “that way” The road is blocked. Figure it out. And the assholes that almost ran me over. Got hit once and it sucked. |

This dipshit tried to speed around the trooper while we had the road closed down and the med flight was on its final approach. |

Yea, I'm thinking it wasn't that cop's first go round with that driver not being able to follow directions.
Also, if the deceased died of old age the people in the procession were likely elderly as well. And we all know how well elderly drivers behave. |

Worked a nasty head on crash one night, mutual aid so out of my jurisdiction by a little bit.
I get there, Life Flight is inbound. I see a young guy lighting flares in a field. I ask him what he’s doing, he says he’s marking the LZ. Have you ever worked with helicopters ? Nope. You know these flares are going to start a fire right? Nope. Just stop, put those out. Why? Watch. Rotor wash is real. |

It takes two to tango. In this case it was an officer trying to complete an assigned task so he can get to the next call and another driver with his head up his ass who was oblivious to the officers hand and arm signals.
I used to get just as frustrated with people who would get behind the wheel without engaging their brain. |

Or as I've always put it, "If you ever want to completely loose faith in humanity... direct traffic for 15+ minutes." People stop when you wave them through.... they drive through when you hold up your arms for them to stop. They'll stop to ask for directions, holding up every other car behind them (because SOMEHOW in the year 2021, there are people driving around who do not have access to any sort of GPS type device). They'll drive around your marked patrol car (with the overheads on) while you're blocking an entire lane only to return a minute or two later once they discover that the road is blocked by a crash or downed tree. |

Quoted: Quoted: You will never see the true depths of human stupidity until you have directed traffic at a major intersection. Story time!!! Apparatus on scene blocking 2 of 3 lanes, 2 vehicle MVA. Mustang comes by and decides the absorbent laid down to soak up the fluids was a great place to do a burn out, less than 5ft from on scene apparatus, and right in front of a county officer. Maglites dent hoods. 1 misdemeanor count reckless driving 1 misdemeanor count failure to obey emergency personnel 1 citation unsafe passing 1 citation passing emergency vehicle with lights activated -------------- I got plenty of stories of roads shut down for medevac to land, apparatus blocking the road... Only to have someone drive on the sidewalk to try and get around, as a helicopter is landing a couple hundred feet away... |

Just saying. |
