Quoted: The Conjuring scared the hell out of my wife when she saw it in theaters. I didn't know how bad till several months after she saw it. We were going through a haunted house attraction in Gatlinburg and at one quiet and dark area....I did the *clap clap* thing behind her. I still have a scar on my shin from where she kicked me for that one. View Quote It’s very well done. Draws you in. |

I assume Hereditary has already been mentioned?
And not really super scary, but The Witch or (VVitch) had great cinematography and an excellent spooky vibe. |

Quoted: We have been watching all of the Warren films (Conjuring, Annabelle, etc.) this past week. As others have said, they are family friendly and not overly gorey. Ed and Lorraine are just hokey enough to take the edge off of the movies and give comic relief. I've got a thing for Vera Farmiga, so that helps as well. View Quote Agreed, something about her... |

Most of my favorites have already been addressed so I'll add "It Follows". It's not super scary but I just really enjoyed the plot line. Really good flick worth checking out. I remember thinking the beginning seemed kinda dumb at first but then I got into it really quick.

Silent Hill
Creepy to the max. Silent Hill will keep you creeped out for a couple days lol. |

Annabelle. My daughter and I saw it when it first hit the theater. We both loved it. My wife won’t watch scary stuff so it’s just the kid and me.

Quoted: Nothing incredibly gory, wildly violent, or rapey (Saw, Hostel, Hills Have Eyes, I Spit On Your Grave). View Quote So, none of the good stuff. I’m pretty sure Charlie Brown has a Halloween Special. |

Quoted: +1 for the conjuring. Dark skies is a good alien one. View Quote Don't make me laugh, bright over done hollywood garbage. This is what you seek. Fire In The Sky Trailer 1993 |

Quoted: Why do millennials refer to horror movies as "scary" movies. My wife fist noticed this around 10 years ago from her students and I've seen it ever since. Is it because of those comedy movies "Scary Movie"? OP, if you're looking for something that isn't too gory/violent/rapey you could try Pumpkinhead or Dolls. View Quote Ooo! You're engaging in Marxist intergenerational divide! Ban badger gon smack your peepee! Better go pop a viagra! |

Quoted: I assume Hereditary has already been mentioned? And not really super scary, but The Witch or (VVitch) had great cinematography and an excellent spooky vibe. View Quote My wife doesn’t do scary movies, so I watched it by myself with al the lights off while she was traveling for business. It’s not a classical horror film, but with the right ambiance it’ll do the trick Also just a really good movie. |

Session 9. Still haunting to me for many reasons.
M. Night Shyamalan's earlier movies, especially The Sixth Sense and Signs, are very tense and atmospheric. |

The Fog (1980 version) scared the shit out of me for some reason.
Silver Bullet was pretty good. I was scared for the crippled boy out in the night alone Silver Bullet (1985) - Fireworks on the Bridge |

Watched The Ring tonight. Scared her.
We watched Orphan last night. She liked the twist, but not scary. |

How about a film where Trump has lost the election and the Republicans both houses and the Dems and their commie overlords are preparing to take over the country?

It's a little uneven but Burnt Offerings is fairly good. No gore, kinda a ghost story. The hearse driver freaked 12 year old me out. One of Betty Davis' last roles also. Made back in the 70's? I think?

Pet Sematary, the old one not the new one, The Mothman Prophesies.
|
|
The Witch, the Blackcoat’s Daughter, Hereditary, It Comes at Night, etc.
More high tension/creepy/very uneasy feeling rather than cheesy jump scares. |
