View Quote Shot gunner: NOTHING IS OVER! Nothing! You can't just switch it off! This is a different kind of war. I told you! You didn't asked me, l didn't ask you! l did everything to win, 8 rounds so fast you couldn't even count them! But that wasn't good enough to win. And at home on my roof top, those maggots were protesting. They laugh at me, called me a batshit crazy and shit like that! Why argue against me, when they weren't there, didn't experience it? lt was hard, but the shotguns not in the past. Why is it called a riot gun!?! For you it's the AR! The AR means nothing to me. There we had a code of honor. You used birdshot and I used #4bk, then we spackle our drywall together. Water heater saved! ARFcom: You're the last of a dying way of thinking, please just let it end already! Shot gunner: There l shot 870's, 500's, use benellis worth thousands! Here it's all about AR's! Where are all my shot gunners? l had friends who were there for us. There were all these guys. There were all these great guys! My friends! Here there's nothing unless you're drinking AR koolaid. D'you remember Kenmack? He wore a 3 Wolf tee shirt. He had found some PVC pipe. Because we'd always talked about that. You know, making a claymore out of shogun shells. The colonel comes in with a maxpedition bag. Kenmack said, "what's in the bag?" l went to get a couple more shotgun shells. He opened it, colonel made some claymores! They malfunctioned and detonated. There was PVC and birdshot flying everywhere. He lay there and screamed... Superficial wounds slightly bleeding. Just like that. You'd think we would have learned but no. It just intensified our drive to perfect the shotgun claymore. Shotgun shells everywhere and so... I cut more and more PVC. But they kept failing. And the AR guys wouldn't help! They just said: ''You guys are fucking retarded", And called us names. The colonel said bullshit. Said the shotgun was best against mobs. Said he could fire off 8 rounds in less then 2 seconds. l can't get it out of my head. lt was just the other day. He repeats it every day with no video to prove it. Sometimes l think I'm losing faith in the shotgun. l don't tell it to anyone. Sometimes I think about switching to an AR for HD. Sometimes I pull it out of the safe. l can't get it out of my head. |

bruh, everyone knows...In ARFCOM: General Discussion bad guys don't even flinch when shot with anything other than 5.56 or .300 from an SBR'd Colt with a silencer. The bad guys will be unscathed by your wall of shotgun blast, but you will murder your own children sleeping soundly in the next room with all the BB's ricocheting of the bad guy as he anally rapes your wife and mother.

Alright you shotgunning homos.
How many shots can you get off in 2.5 seconds, and how many home invaders do you anticipate? |

Federal "low recoil" 00 Buckshot. It's pretty good stuff and gets me back on target for follow ups faster. I have also neckbearded a pile of Walmart 00 buck that I am keeping for the End of the World As We Know It. My shotgun is a reliable known quantity and I am confident in using it in a fighting context.
I'm in the preliminary stages of transitioning to an AR15 for home defense duty again. Hit a financial dry patch a while back and had to sell my A1 carbine to fund a guitar purchase. Now I'm back in the saddle and am shopping for a 6920 or similar. I don't think the shotgun is that bad but the AR is a better home defense long weapon. My handgun of choice is a Glock 17 and that is likely not going to change any time soon. |

6 rounds of Federal 000 in the old Secret Service 14" 870, because it patterns beautifully and very consistently.
But any one of several rifles is going to come out of the safe first if things have gone sideways. |

I'm taking volunteers to absorb test #4 buckshot at the 3 to 7 yards ranges I'm likely to be using it in this house.
Completely safe as those puny pellets aren't going to hurt you. They will most likely bounce right off, if not completely deflected before they reach you by your badass aura. ARFcom says so. Line forms over there . . . |

Depending on the laws in your area a shotgun maybe your best option. When guns using standard size detachable mags aren't an option a pump action is likely your most viable alternative. Also you can get a good basic shotgun for about $250 which is about half the price of a budget built AR. If you are a poor peasant get yourself a cheap shotty, load it with birdshot, and toss on your AR500 and cause the AR15.com GD master race to have seizures.
Mine is loaded with Remington low recoil 00 buck because it patterns well out of my gun. The one serious thing I will say is that you need to focus less on what particular type of buckshot you are using and focus more on making sure you are skilled with the gun. Better off with the cheapest stuff on the shelf loaded into a gun you have practiced a lot with then premium rounds loaded into a gun you aren't skilled with. Not especially practical but I like the idea of a Federal 3" #4 shell with 41 pellets in the chamber backed up by 5 Federal personal defense #4 loads each containing 34 pellets (PD156 4B). That's 211 .24 caliber projectiles in six shots. That's the most lead down range in the shortest length of time for any non NFA firearm I'm familiar with. Not a great idea for home defense in my opinion but if you wanted to throw out a lot of hate and discontent it would get your point across. |

If I using a shotgun I would feel most confident with a good pattern of 3" mag 000 buck.

It's not what it'll do to the target that's the problem, it's what it'll do to anything behind it, should a projectile miss or go clean through your intended target. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

When I read these threads I often wonder how many people here have actually seen someone who has been shot, much less with various shotgun loads. Just for fun, do a google image search for buckshot wounds and you'll get an idea what a load of buckshot will do. I'm not saying it's the best/ideal load, I don't think there really is a "best" load, they're all compromises in some way, but at the distances within a house it's certainly not "ineffective", not that I would want to be downrange any round for that matter. That's not why people chose rifles over shotguns. In general, 556 and 00 buck will penetrate roughly equal amounts. |

That bit in red. No one says that, in these threads. And "wall of shotgun blast" is as dumb a phrase as the whole "meat from bone", or "all a matter of degree", or the perennial favorite, "screaming fucking nightmare". There, I broke it down, Barney simple, for you. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

bruh, everyone knows...In ARFCOM: General Discussion bad guys don't even flinch when shot with anything other than 5.56 or .300 from an SBR'd Colt with a silencer. The bad guys will be unscathed by your wall of shotgun blast, but you will murder your own children sleeping soundly in the next room with all the BB's ricocheting of the bad guy as he anally rapes your wife and mother. What? And "wall of shotgun blast" is as dumb a phrase as the whole "meat from bone", or "all a matter of degree", or the perennial favorite, "screaming fucking nightmare". Line forms over there . . .
