I only met her a couple times, but she has dated a couple people I am friends with, and one was my roommate. I didn't meet her until after it happened.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland woman who coaches youth baseball was
accused this week of killing the father of their two children six years
ago by poisoning his tea with antifreeze.

Holly McFeeture, 34, was indicted Tuesday, charged with the 2006 murder of Matthew Podolak.

Elizabeth Balraj, the county coroner at the time, ruled the cause of
death to be chronic intoxication by ethylene glycol, which is the active
ingredient in antifreeze. She left the manner of death undetermined.

I like how they were like, yup poisoned by antifreeze, I wonder how that happened. Oh well, next case!

How much does it take, anyway?

It takes a decent dose of anti-freeze to kill a dog, I'd think the same would be true of a person...how would you drink some tea mixed with it and not immediately know it was fucked up?

I've accidentally tasted it before (stupid story), and it was like "whoa, holy fuck" to my taste buds.

It's not a "boom, you're dead" action either...it fucks your internals up and makes you violently ill.

I figured intoxication without actually drinking alcohol would be a pretty good tip off.

I'm drunk

I didn't drink anything...

Something is VERY wrong here...

I'm betting they knew it was her but couldn't prove or find enough evidence to convince a judge or DA....and I'm betting they got a break recently that let them put the puzzle together and get a warrant.

Perhaps, but I'd still think it would make you sick as fuck. After the first tea someone gave me that made me vomit or have intense gastrointestinal pain, I'd maybe take a pass.

Maybe it just went to his kidneys and shut 'em down. Once that happens, you're dead.

Some states mandate addition of bittrex to antifreeze and commonly swallowed household chemicals, making it nearly impossible to swallow.

Bittrex was invented be DOD to use in Nam on enemy rice storage, making the rice unedible...it works...you can't swallow it.

One law that I strongly agree with.

The coroner's report does say chronic poisoning as opposed to acute.  So I'm guessing she fed him small doses of it over a period of time.  Perhaps she introduced it slowly and he got used to the taste?

I've tasted a metric shit ton of antifreeze, when I was a mechanic (decades ago) and it's sweet. I could see drinking it and not knowing.
