40 miles north in Nebraska, likely near Oshkosh.  Ideally playing golf at Wildhorse near Gothenburg, Nebraska, time will tell.

McMinnville or Sparta most likely. Lot of friends in both towns

The roof. Maybe climb snow king. Either way I'm stuck in JH for it and it's going to be hell on earth.

I am going to watch it in the sky!

Though it will be full on here in Greenville.  I am hoping for clear skies. I need a backup location.

Right here at home. Apparently I'm in a good area to see it. I've been told that all the hotels and campgrounds around here are sold out as there are going to be a lot of people coming to the area to see it.

I had been planning to drive to Idaho but another thread left me to believe that the traffic and the crowds would be awful. My wants to go to Cody Wyoming this year so maybe we will head up there and just hang out on the way until the eclipse passes before going on.

Probably in Wyoming, or far NW Nebraska.  Weather prospects are best out west.

I was planning on Glendo, WY, but I read that the burg of 204 is expecting 50,000-75,000 people, and they want to put everybody in one observing field.  It will be a madhouse.  It will be worse, though, in more populated areas--St. Joseph, Mo, just north of Kansas City and on the centerline, is expecting a million people for the eclipse.  No thank you.

We'll get 95% coverage at my house. Already have eclipse glasses and objective filters for the binoculars.

There's a good chance we'll be clouded out, though. Skies are iffy during the late summer.

You can watch a simulation for your location here: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa

Supposedly, there's a big eclipse watch party just north of me in St. Joe, MO. After seeing one when I was in elementary school during the 1980s, I'll be damned if I'm going to take time out or make a special trip to see another.

Probably at my house. I'm about 10 miles off of the center line. They are expecting many thousands of people to come to this area (Western Kentucky) for the show.

The highest peak in the land!

Is this the eclipse that /pol/ says was predicted in some 1950's doowop song?

If so, I think I'm gonna be raptured

No kidding. I will be in the Madras area at vacation property and it is going to be stupid. I'm bringing everything I need and planning extra time. I'm praying there won't be a wild fire.

Have a 38 gallon tank on my F150, so I should be good to go. I wI'll top it off ever chance I get though.

My hometown in Western Kentucky is smack-dab in the middle of its path, but my home is now here in Phoenix, so this is where I'll be. I'll only see a sliver of occlusion.

So do you need eclipse glasses if you're not in the projected path for 100% coverage?  I'll be at 88% where I'm at.  Do you only need the glasses if you're directly looking at the sun?  Or do you need them to be outside?

I'm clueless when it comes to this shit.

You don't need them just to be outside, it's not going to be any brighter than usual.  But an 88% eclipse is only interesting if you look directly at it, and you need the glasses to look at anything less than 99%.

I'll be in Idaho, at a campground, if I can get a cheap-enough plane fare and reserve a rental car. Have to drive three hours north from Boise to see it.

I may have an extra day in Boise, though - is there anything to do there (he wondered, wonderingly)?
