I'm gonna brace for some jokes and say I painted the sights on the second slide for my carry gun, so I'm sure your invention is fine.
If it's stupid, but it works, then it isn't stupid... |

Its cleaner than my current setup but I've got alot more "scraps". I have a spot for larger sheets of wood, a trash can for dimensional lumber, a extra large tote on a dolly under a bench for small cuts of plywood or wider dimensional, then a large tote for smaller scraps.
Everytime I burn a brush pile I cull out any scraps that are not worth saving instead of filling up the trash bin. |

Looks like it would be top-heavy and unstable?
A+ for initiative. I love stuff like this. |

A slot rack made from scrap wood would be a lot more durable and stable, but if you've got a garbage plastic tote anyway, why not?
Nice use of scrap material, OP. |

I think some welded wire mesh would do that quite nicely, and would last more than a week or two.
|
|
The metal trash can was full of AK47s, so OP had to improvise.

Nice! I have some spare lumber taking up floor space in my garage and I just happen to have a spare Rubbermaid container.

View Quote That's what I was going to build, but then I had this idea and figured it would be worth the 5 minutes of cutting up a lid to see if it would work. Saved me an hour or so of building something. |

Quoted: they laughed at Edison. wait, no they didnt View Quote Not even when he told a joke? I bet he could get a laugh out of Henry when they had a few drinks in. “Hey Ford! How many Jews does it take to put in a light bulb?” “I don’t know. How many?” “None! I haven’t invented it yet!” Then Henry would laugh and spit out his cigar. At least that’s how I imagine it. |

At first look I thought it was an overhead contraption and was trying to figure out how that would be a good idea.
Then I got my orientation correct. Yeah, cool idea. I keep all the same "scraps" as well. Has saved me many a trip to town or cutting an 8 inch section off a perfectly good 2x4. |

That's neat, I sure have plenty of spare boards, thanks for posting.

Judging by those rectangles, I think your BAC was a few points over the limit for jigsaw work.

I kinda like the "listing to port" aesthetic of the photograph.

if it's dumb and it barely works and is an eyesore, is it still dumb?

Let me guess, you found this inspiration while buying some threaded rod at the hardware store?

That looks like a solution looking for a problem.
But hey, if you like it. |

The day you can grab one of those random boards, use it and then shove it in your wife's stupid smug face is literally the sweetest day on earth. Are you even a man? |
|
You should do what I do - shove all the scraps into a single trash can until it becomes unbalanced and falls over, blocking the door and causing you to repeat "motherfucker" 10x until you can force the door open.

Did you smear peanut butter on the lid and let rats cut out your openings?

It's better than your last invention..... Attached File

Necessity is the mother of invention.
I designed 2 tools for roofing that Last I checked have not been made by any one else. One make it possible to hang 20+ foot barge rafters by yourself, when it's normally a 2 person job. The other is for hanging facia boards by yourself. Both take seconds to apply and remove |
