I for one am glad, I never flew southwest I like legroom and to have assignment of a seat
Or seats. I am not an animal! One more option is good Southwest to get rid of open seating, offer extra legroom in biggest shift in its history https://www.cnbc.com/2024/07/25/southwest-airlines-seat-assignments.html |

As of now I only fly them to the one place they have a direct flight locally
But with assigned seats and some sort of upgrade option, I’d give them a look. |

I'm happy too. I won't fly SW unless I'm absolutely desperate. I hate the cattle call seating.
There's your reply. |
|
I liked the cattle call. It would almost guarantee me that I would not have to sit next to another big guy.

I have been happily flying Southwest since Continental sold to United. I really don't want it to change, but I'm more concerned about how reliable they have been for me.
|
|
I would be more concerned with them making contact with the Earth off field. I will look for my recent post on another problem approach to landing on Southwest.
Here it is. |

I pretty much only fly SW but I also really only go to a few places like Colorado to visit a friend once a year. Have flown to San Diego and Las Vegas - I like SW. Never had a problem with them, gotten a few free drinks a number of times, I only use a carry on and that is free and also their carry on size is more generous. They also seem to be less expensive than other major carriers since Houston is the hub.
I had no issue with the unassigned seating but that's about all I was used to so not sure about the change. Sometimes I liked finding an open seat up front b/c it wasn't assigned so I could grab it if flying by myself. Didn't find the Lettering/Numbering system to be a problem either. So if everything is assigned and I book later, flying for 2, does it often happen that you only have middle seats left and won't sit together? |

How else will SW management wreck the once fine airline? I'm guessing with baggage fees.

Southwest was the only airline flying last Friday morning when the blue screen of death meltdown happened I'll never fly Southwest again after experiencing their boarding procedure. Delta is the way.. |

My fucking company that I am laid off of on Aug 1st. Asked me to lead a group of drivers/vehicles from Idaho to Chicago, with a flight home tomorrow.
I am in a ghetto hotel, in the ghetto by Midway Airport. I get to fly Southwest tomorrow morning. I guess I should be happy it wasn't Spirit Airlines. |

just a money grab, pay more for priority seating and boarding.

I only fly private. Mostly into Aspen for the winter at my 8000sft log cabin or my summer house in Hilton Head on the shoreline.

There should be no airplanes.
Airplanes are dangerous with dei patients phlying them. |

Quoted: Open seating is what makes them unique. This is foolish. View Quote People pay for the A upgrade. It isn’t exactly open when the first 150 people paid for a seat. I like putting my kids in middle seats in separate rows. I don’t want to sit next to them just like everyone else, and they have a ticket just like everyone else. |

Their open seating led to a coworker getting into an argument with another passenger. He was drunk. He got tossed, and was not allowed on to fly on Southwest again. He had to pay his own way to monthly meetings for the next 2+ years. He was only able to expense the price paid per for the rest of us, he had to rent cars because he usually arrived at way different times if he flew. He wound up driving most of the time. Dallas to the HQ location in Houston was 4.5 to 6+ hours, depending on traffic. LOL. He was someone who could not hold his alcohol.

We fly SW exclusive for leisure and have never had a problem. We have a SW credit card and haven’t had to pay for a plane ticket in almost 15 years.
If they’re going to become just airline, I’m open to dropping them for another airline. I fly AA for work and haven’t ever had an issue so they’d be first up for consideration. |

I fly whatever is cheap. Usually southwest. I fall asleep before the plane takes off and wake up when it lands. No need to wast money

We usually fly Southwest and over the past year or so it's lost whatever luster it once had for quality, affordable flights.
However, we just flew from Miami and the gate attendant made more than 1 family member travelling with a wheelchair passenger wait until their boarding group was called. Why in the hell should every able bodied family member be able to board with 1 family member in a wheelchair? j |
|
Quoted: Probably too many people faking handicaps to board first View Quote This is it. The first 45 people every flight are saved by Jetway Jesus, who restores their ability to walk as soon as they are called to preboard. Scammers and shammers load the plane, so that by the time those who follow rules get on board, you're looking at middle seats and a window seat lady who has placed her things in the other two seats in her row, saving it for some shitbird in C group. |

This is dumb, it’s rewarding the lazy.
Most times if you checked in exactly 24hrs ahead of time you were in the low “B” boarding section, which meant you had your choice of seats in the back half of the plane. Many times I paid the $15-$40 to get priority boarding and still sat in the back, never got stuck next to a ham planet, and always got an aisle seat. |

I bought tickets from Vegas to San Diego (too lazy to drive) on SW. Our flight was cancelled over and over from something like 3pm until the next morning. My daughter really wanted to go and it was her birthday. We were going to the zoo and to see a new dog some relatives got.
We stayed in a motel. My kids were pretty good, but when we left for the motel it was late and they were tired and my son cried, but he still agreed to go the next day. I was too tired to drive two hours home We didn't have our luggage, that flew out on the first flight we were kicked off of. Southwest employees lied about what was going on "it's the weather" when my luggage flew and I could see planes taking off We went to Denny's for breakfast and the next flight was cancelled. I drove home and when I got home I got a text saying were on a flight at 3:30pm. I called, cancelled the flight and got a refund. The ladies who handled returning my luggage by fed ex were nice. My daughter cried over her crappy birthday. |

Next up comes charging for bags like the rest of the scumbag airlines.
