If they are gonna go with prioritizing female characters, Ahsoka is the one to do it with. She’s been better developed than any other female character in the saga, and as you’ve said she’s very popular despite her rocky beginning. She’s really the only female character I care about in the saga, especially since Carrie Fisher’s passing. I couldn’t care less about Rey at this point.

I agree to an extent.   Besides Ashoka female character wise I like Bariss Offee, Ventress, Hera, and Sabine.

Likewise. I really liked those characters too. I hope we get the Dark Disciple arc in the new episodes because I really wanted to get a proper sendoff for Ventress in animated form.

They brought this back for ONE REASON ONLY.

Ahsoka

They are going to do a spin off with her, because she had such a HUGE ass following with the female base.

Well said... started as a cocksure brat, failed a lot, trained a lot, failed less, learned, suffered, served, overcame, still failed sometimes, grew into a true heroic leader. Interesting character with interesting stories.

Rey... showed up and won every time with not training or effort. Yawn.

Yep, the classic hero’s journey. How Disney could screw up something as timeless and basic as that with Rey is beyond me.

I'll give it a shot but it doesn't seem like Star Wars.

I do think I'm going to wait till the whole season airs and then give it a look.
Find a way to watch the episodes back to back.

If it starts to slow or bad I may not tune in weekly to see it but powering through a binge watch I could probably make it through the season to see if it gets better

I agree that the tone is off. SW has never been really serious, but there is a certain maturity to it that seems absent in this show. Even Rebels had the more mature tone at times. This, on the other hand, is clearly designed for a different demographic than people like me, and although that’s okay, I just don’t see myself enjoying it. I’ll watch if the reviews are good.

I remember hearing somewhere Fioni is involved with resistance in name only. Basically i expect it to crash and burn season 1, they finally break down weeping and bring him in, and the rest slowly climb in quality.

Help us Fioni, you are our only hope.

I don’t think he will be there to save this show. He’s already said he handed the reins to his former subordinates, and he’s busy with the Clone Wars episodes now, and possibly more if he gets promoted again.

Ventress turned out to be a surprisingly compelling character. When I first saw her I thought she was just another throwaway bad girl like Captain Phasma. Again, they managed to develop her into someone with depth, emotions, and relatability, such that I ended up feeling sorry for her and the direction her life had taken.

Interesting distinction is while she had no problem killing and enjoyed it, she never got into the slaughter of the innocent for slaughters sake that I can recall.

No. Although she was a user of the dark side, I’m not sure she fully embraced it. I think she leaned toward it because she was used to being used and abandoned by people, which left her feeling hurt, betrayed, and bitter. At her core, I don’t think she was a bad person, just someone who had gotten a rough hand at life. Plus, the resolution to her story suggests she did not fully embrace the dark side, as shown by the Dark Disciple novel.

I've known people like that, and I agree completely.

Ventress did what she had to do to survive.  She did the right things when she could.

The current thinking I have on this is that they will do final animation on The Crystal Crisis and Bad Batch arcs that are currently up on starwars.com and then do The Siege of Mandalore arc that was supposed to be the finale and has Anakin and Obi Wan run off for the Battle of Coruscant at the beginning of RoTS.

I dunno... there is a lot of evidence that they are redoing at least a good part of it. We have statements from Filoni to that effect, and the guy who did the voice of Yoda said he had just recorded a couple new episodes. All that leads me to believe that we may get new material.

12 episodes...the 1st 2 makes 8 and the teaser shows Ahsoka and Bo Katan on the holo phone.  I would love all new stuff...but what I suggest gives them a lot less work to produce 12 episodes.

I figured Siege of Mandalore, Palpatine being  a dick to The Jedi, and more of Anakin falling to the dark side.

Other than the Crystal Crisis and Bad Batch arcs, there was a bounty hunter arc with Cad Bane and Boba Fett, Son of Dathomir featuring Darth Maul, Dark Disciple with Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos, and an arc with Ahsoka finding a Sith shrine under the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Of those, Dark Disciple was made into a novel and Son of Dathomir is a comic, so I don’t anticipate those getting made. Instead, I bet we get the Sith shrine arc and possibly the bounty hunter arc. It’s also possible that we will get something entirely new, especially since Filoni said they are changing some things to make it as good as possible and to bring it in line with Rebels. I think we will see Rex and Ahsoka fake their deaths on Mandalore after Order 66, and go their separate ways. We may also see a Kanan Jarrus/Depa Billaba appearance.

As always, I try to keep my ears open for new information, so I’ll post it here if I hear anything.

A couple of questions.

Since TCW is set between 2 and 3, and Rogue 1 is set right before A New Hope, how many years are there separating the two? 20 something years?

Saw Gerrera was pretty spry in the series and looked like he was rode hard and put up wet in R1.

Aside from training under Dooku, does General Grievous have any control of the force or are his lightsaber skills due to being mostly machine?

The final season of the Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith took place in 19 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin, which takes place in A New Hope).

Grievous doesn’t have any Force abilities, but he learned lightsaber combat from Count Dooku and gained a lot of ability through his mechanical enhancements.

CW is a good show and I'll watch it when it's on but I find the animation style to be annoying.  I'm not a fan of the style or the way that it's compromised for rapid production of serial shows.   I understand the necessity for that but that doesn't mean I really like that part.

I was hoping, and still hope, for a more realistic (live action or close to it) series that addresses life in the Imperium from a variety of aspects.  Anything from "the life and times of a fresh Imperial recruit just entering boot camp"  to...well, whatever makes a good story.  The possibilities are limitless.

Back in the day I played the Star Wars PC games such as X-Wing Alliance,  Tie Fighter, and the Dark Forces FPS games.   Virtually every scenario and setting they were played in could be a good setting for one or several episodes.    They had a really good feeling of being well integrated into a larger universe you wanted to explore.

Well, we could’ve gotten something like what you described. We got Resistance instead. A show about an era people don’t care about, in an animation format that looks like Flash animation from 20 years ago, all designed for an audience younger than Rebels’s target demographic. And airing on Sundays at 10PM.

It’s like they’re trying to make it fail.

And the woman in charge of it all got her contract renewed for another 3 years. I love SW, but after TCW is over I’m done.

Just one fan's opinion...they should have gone with an anthology series....tell stories from anywhere between The Phantom Menace to Ep IX.  They could do single episode stories and longer multi episode arcs.
