Goddamn. Video 3. 1:48. He's yelling "Mom! Mom!" Edit: Jesus Christ. He was calling for his mom. https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/local/neighbors-describe-scene-night-tyre-nichols-arrest/DW7VSE25EBBNPNAQUZG3KMK4N4/ MEMPHIS, Tenn. After Tyre Nichols' parents and their attorneys discussed viewing the footage of the incident that led to his death Monday afternoon, some details are becoming clearer. Nichols' parents said the incident took place just yards from their home, whereas MPD had reported the confrontation happened at the intersection of Ross and Raines. According to neighbors, the confrontation ended directly under a Skycop camera on Castlegate Lane, one of the cameras around the neighborhood that could have captured the incident. |
| i believe the initial guys were from a FF company (engine, maybe), and they just stood around waiting for an ambulance to finally show up. That said, they had ALS equipment with them, so they obviously had duty of care and failed miserably. Neither guy assessed the patient - instead just standing around waiting for the ambulance to show up |

I would love to see video of the initial stop so I can get the whole picture. One cop was saying the deceased was stopped, drove off, then stopped at the light and that’s why they went hands on??? I’ve never seen cops try to arrest someone like that where one or two try to place cuffs while cops intermittently walk over to throw kicks, punches, and baton hits, and then casually walk away. Towards the end it actually looked like he was in cuffs while they were throwing punches and screaming “show me your hands”. I wonder if payback was being dealt out while shouting “show me your hands” could be used as an excuse if ever questioned? |

Attached File Ok so I haven’t watched the 87 minutes of video available so I can’t post my expert GD opinion. But I’m not seeing the problem. I mean ya a few cheap shots but I don’t see intent. I’m pretty sure the defense can definitely show the intent to murder is just not there. Not guilty. But cops need to stop beating the fuck out of people. A beating is needed at times but cuffed and kicked is outa line man. Don’t be a pussy and cheap shot. |

Quoted: Few pages back, someone said the beatdown happened a few houses(blocks?) away from his parents house. Not sure if that is confirmed... but that would make it so much worse than Floyd calling for his mom. That is what the Memphis news is reporting. They are showing the bodycam videos in snippets Reporters are saying the downtown businesses are barricading and boarding-up. https://www.actionnews5.com/livestream/ This shit is gonna explode. No way it doesn't. Attached File |

Quoted: ^^^^This. I'm pretty sure that Officer Placekicker was the same one who was pepper-sprayed in the face in the initial stop video. I also believe he was the one who grounded his vest (with camera down) in the next video when he went to practice his field goal kicking. I'm also pretty sure that he's the one who landed several haymaker punches (one that snapped Nichols' head back) when they were holding him up. If that's all the same guy, I think he may be the one who said "I hope they stomp his ass" To be fair about the bodycam... I think it got knocked off during the illegal murderous beatdown. At least it seemed that way unless he knocked it off on purpose. |

Quoted: I hard a friend who was LACSD. He specialized in stolen vehicles/chop shops. Former jarhead like me. He never said a good word about the LAPD crash unit. He'd hint around that they did some really sketchy shit but never really went into detail. I lost track of him when I transferred back to Ohio in 1995. He ended up bailing a few years later for small town NW Utah policing... I knew a retired LAPD detective Lt. who served on Rampart CRASH in the 80s as a mid-career officer. I asked him about CRASH, and he told me about it. He didn’t like admitting that he was on it. He was a real by-the-book, rules kind of guy, and he was disgusted at the way it went after he’d left for Robbery/homicide. Great guy; the kind you want in LE. |

Maybe if you didn't watch it, you shouldn't make ignorant comments. Dude did nothing wrong. He was pulled from the car immediately and did not resist, he may have failed to follow commands- but your natural instincts take over when you are getting haymakers to the fucking head. 5 very large cops against one skinny guy. It looks no no serious attempts were made to cuff him, and once they do they use him as a punching bag. |

That whole situation from start to finish looks like what I imagine it would if you took a group of random idiots off the street, gave them no skills or training and turned them loose. I would think the union would want to ban pepper spray because it seems the only people MPD can hit with it is themselves and each other. Just absolute clown shoes from start to finish. |

The only reason things will explode tonight is because some people want a riot and I am certain Obama and Holder are gleefully watching events unfold. |

One of the local reporters did it like 5 years before him and the reporter actually did a bit better, though not good. ![]() Activist critical of police undergoes use of force scenarios | FOX 10 News |

Quoted: And plenty of times it supports and clears a cop when a citizen tries making fake claims against an officer. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: What do you expect? Body cams were supposed to be the end-all for criminals in court. Instead we have documented rampant cop misbehavior. Funny how that works. Actually, statistics show and have been proven that BWCs actually don't show "rampant" cop misbehavior... BWCs were supposed to show exactly that and they actually show that cops interact more positively with the public. Not saying bad stuff doesn't happen, but it's not as rampant as people think. And plenty of times it supports and clears a cop when a citizen tries making fake claims against an officer. There is a reason I have a dash and rear HiDef cam in my truck. Very good reason. |

Quoted: No chance to comply when it was an attack from the very beginning. As other have said this was life or death from the start. Not any degree of professionalism by the officers. A carjacking if not for the uniforms. Quoted: Quoted: He didn't comply on the initial stop, though. No chance to comply when it was an attack from the very beginning. As other have said this was life or death from the start. Not any degree of professionalism by the officers. A carjacking if not for the uniforms. As someone mentioned though, the video of the initial traffic stop begins with him already out of the car. Is there any video of them approaching the car? Why they stopped him? Why they asked him to exit the vehicle? Him ignoring their lights/sirens to pull over? Ignoring commands to "Step out of the vehicle"? We've seen lots of videos where LE acts aggressively when a suspect has already failed to comply with any/all of those (eg. remaining in the vehicle and repeating, "Why? I didn't do anything", despite being directed again and again to step out of the vehicle). Even out of the vehicle, as the video rolls on the initial stop with him on the ground, they repeatedly directed him to lay on his stomach and give them his hands, but he refuses to comply, never laying on his stomach, or putting his right hand behind his back (while repeatedly doing the whole, "Why? I didn't do anything" line that we see all the time). As they continue demanding him to "Give me your hands!", one guy draws pepper spray, another draws a taser, and he squirms and gets out and bolts, and the idiots spray each other and miss with the taser. |

Can any shots from a 240# crazed man really be considered cheap shots? Are you even watching the same video the rest of us are? |

Honestly, I've swung pretty much all the way to no sympathy for cops anymore. There's always an excuse, always a reason why it "wasn't that bad", always some qualifying factor like how the victim should've listened better as he got his head rammed into the ground coughing on OC spray. My old job I worked around LE and emergency response types all the time, as a contractor working on emergency infrastructure for the state. I used to be about as pro cop as you get. If you've been in or around some of the major front range LE departments in CO, you've probably used or been around equipment I set up. The longer term problem is pretending that all this bad policing won't eventually turn towards enemies of the state. Easy to call FG kicks and stand up haymakers "cheap shots" when you aren't the politically targeted arrestee. |

Plenty on arf like watching cities burn. |

Quoted: The Federal version of the Black and Tans? Quoted: Quoted: And if they think local PDs are bad, wait until they get this exact same culture entrenched in a *federal* police department. Than they'll wail and BEG for what we have right now, as bad as it is. The Federal version of the Black and Tans? They were a great example of a rogue police unit who were told to get the job done and not worry - we will cover for you. They treated the Irish like vermin. |

I thought it seemed like it flew/spun around in the air then landed on the ground. I didn't compare the different POV and sync them up, so I could be totally wrong. |

Quoted: One of the cops standing around after, tried to claim that Tyre tried to go for his gun (actually says something like, "He literally had his hand on my gun"). No idea what happened before the pole camera panned over, but I definitely didn't see him fighting, swinging, or reaching for anyone's sidearm. Was he resisting? Yeah, in the initial stop, he refused to lie on his stomach and put his right arm behind him, and when they kept asking, and trying, he used the opportunity to squirm out and bolt. Used the same technique in the 2nd video, laying on his right side without putting his right arm behind his back. At some point, they were spraying him in the face, then kicking and striking, and he was just trying to protect his head by that point, but again, don't know why the culture seems to be all about noncompliance, while repeating, "What did I do? I didn't do nuthin!". The roadside isn't the place to argue with LE, while refusing to comply. No idea what kind of "Respect My Authority!" types you might piss off (like the white officer who cuffs the skinny white kid, then drags him to the pavement and deliberately drops him on his face from a few feet up, while the kid's hands are cuffed behind his back). Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: So, have they determined the final cause of death? Was it as a result of the beating, the tasering, the pepper spray, a combo, what? I'm going to guess trauma to the brain will be the proximate cause of death. The taser wasn't very effective and the OC spray ended up on the officers as much as on the suspect. The beating, however, went entirely one way. I didn't see the deceased throw a punch or kick. He tried to get loose and get away, but he didn't manifest any aggression. One of the cops standing around after, tried to claim that Tyre tried to go for his gun (actually says something like, "He literally had his hand on my gun"). He also fought through a can f OC, a taser, and kicked the officer you see limping around…along with fighting his way from the ground to his feet twice while 4-5 guys failed to keep him down. That suspect is a champ at escaping custody and totally ignoring non lethal weapons. He resisted…for a long time. |

Quoted: He didn't comply on the initial stop, though. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: If he had complied right at the beginning he'd probably still be alive. Looks like the cops weren't very good at what they were doing. He never had the chance He didn't comply on the initial stop, though. He never complied. He fought his way from the ground, all the way to standing…at both stops. That’s actually impressive. |

Quoted: How many seconds from stop to “get the fuck out the car” and acting like a damn thug with a badge. I don't know why that isn't on video. Or video that either shows him not stopping, as they claim, or that they lied about him failing to stop until he was at the light. |
