I'm going to deny this later but I think a&m, lsu, ole Miss, Alabama, and Georgia all look like they're top 10/playoff capable teams.

Meh. LSU and Georgia also dropped so UCLA could jump them. It's all irrelevant when you really think about it. |

West Virginia finally got in and we'll see what they're about...a pretty stout defense, but they're @OU, vs OSU, @BU, @TCU next four games...they're probably winning two of those games.

Ole Miss, would have graduated in '01, but left after three years to go play on boats.

I just grabbed the Week 5 and final AP polls from last year. Week 5 says nothing.

It says there's a chance about half the teams currently in the top 25 wont even be there at the end of the year but if you're not in the top 25 right now your chances on making the playoffs are slim to none. |

Florida is 4-0 and playing at home. They have wins vs Kentucky and Tennessee who are pretty good teams. Homefield is also worth Appx 3 pts so the line might be 10 points if the game was at Ole Miss. Ole Miss at home only beat Vandy by 11. Vandy is 1-3 so that's playing into it a bit also. |

What's your take on this one? Is NC any good? 2 of their 3 wins are against FCS teams. This is also their first true road game. Demolished Illinois and lost a close one to Gamecocks Won vs GT last year in a shootout. Looks like they could cover getting 9 from the little I've looked at it. |

ND @ Clemson PK UNC @ Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech -9 What's your take on this one? Is NC any good? 2 of their 3 wins are against FCS teams. This is also their first true road game. Demolished Illinois and lost a close one to Gamecocks Won vs GT last year in a shootout. Looks like they could cover getting 9 from the little I've looked at it. UNC doesn't really know how good or bad they are. We moved the ball at will against SCAR and then turned it over 3 times in the red zone. Carolina has run the ball at will against everyone we've played, and has run best between the tackles. Tech is very, very vulnerable up the middle, so this seems to bode well for UNC on the ground. UNC's backup QB (Trubisky) came in during the 2nd quarter against Delaware and finished the game with a QB rating of 282. If UNC can get the run game going then the only way they don't score every possession is by turning it over. What scares me is that our defense has been absolutely gashed by the run. We've managed to keep people out of the end zone, but we simply don't have the athletes needed on the line or at linebacker. The line has had problems getting penetration and the linebackers are a step slow. We've also run an amazingly vanilla defense to this point, but that's by design as nothing more has been needed. Not sure we've even seen a stunt from the line. Net net, I'd feel comfortable taking UNC and the points. And the over. |

Some picks for the week:
Bama v Dawgs ...I think Nick game plans the shit out this game. Close game though. Field goal perhaps. Ole Miss v FU.....gators are feeling strong, but they get dealt their first loss. Two TDs UNC v GT....GT is just falling apart and no where near as fast as last year. ND v Clemson. ....I didn't want to believe it but I think The Irish are pretty legit this year. Last one that I'm not so sure about but could be a HUGE spoiler........ I think Texas Tech could upset Baylor. It comes down to D. If TT can make defensive plays then they win. |

I'm going with
UGA over Bama: Georgia finally wins a big one Ole Miss over Florida. Both have great defenses, but Ole Miss pulls it out with the better O. GT over UNC Clemson over the Domers Baylor rolls Tech. Tech runs out of steam, plus the gimpy QB doesn't help. |

I think Bama @ Georgia comes down to Georgia's receivers vs. the Tide's DB.
If the Dawgs get open and Lambert hits them early that will open up the run later. Ole Miss gave Bama's DBs fits. If the Tide shuts down the run, Georgia is in trouble. Monk |

If the Tide shuts down the run, Georgia is in trouble. View Quote Maybe, maybe not. I believe Georgia has a lot of weapons outside of the running game, and with Lambert looking more and more proficient as a passer, the game won't just be on Chubb's shoulders. I think the deciding factor will be whether Georgia can slow down the Tide running game, and whether they can keep pressure on Coker. Keep pressure on Coker, and make them turn the ball over. I think Georgia is the better offensive team, with a slight nod going to Alabama defensively. Special Teams edge also goes to Georgia, and could be a huge factor in the game. Coaching clearly goes to Saban, but playing at home should be a boost. That being said, I do remember what the Tide did in Athens in '08. Either way, I still believe the SC win was a huge mental hurdle for the team, and they should be fired up for Alabama this weekend. Regardless, we will know a lot more about both teams come Sunday morning... |

Kentucky is a pretty good team based on what exactly? View Quote Take it how you want, but they are 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Beat a former top-25 team in Missouri, and only loss was to a currently ranked Florida team 14-9. Are they a top 10 caliber team? Certainly not, but they are certainly doing better at this point than anyone really expected. Of course, they started out pretty well last year, also, and ended up losing 5 or 6 straight games to close out the season. To me, the game I am really looking forward to (other than UGA/Bama) is the Tenn - Arkansas game. I want to see if Tennessee can come back after another soul crushing loss, and whether Arkansas will show up at all. Arkansas is still a dangerous team, but I am still not sold on their head coach...same goes for Tennessee. Both have the talent, but does either have the ability to out-coach the other? Georgia doesn't get Arkansas this year, but we will see Tennessee in two weeks. |

Last year I was very high on Melvin Gordon. He was a difference maker who won games and averaged 195 all purpose yard a game. I really thought he deserved a shot at the Heisman.
I mention him because through 4 games, Christian Kirk, A&Ms true freshman WR, is averaging 200 per game and you could argue he was the difference maker in both the Arizona State and Arkansas games. Kid is amazing. |
