This is their forte. They’ve had 7 come from behind victories this year.

Well they did put them away. I’d say it’s more a sign of not being dominating. Dominating teams don’t fall behind 7/12 games.

With TCU/KSU heading to OT the final 4 are set.

It's only a question of order.

Correct

Many conferences are now thinking that a conference championship will not be needed and could be detrimental to getting multiple teams in.

That is why having an 8 team or 16 team playoff would be best.  Champions get an automatic qualify (8team).  Two teams playing for conference championship get an automatic qualify (16team).
View Quote

If I remember correctly, conference championship games started having lower attendance due to playoff games and added ticket cost. Many times it can affect a team that could advance to the playoffs by either an outright loss and/or injuries by a team that’s not going to get into the playoffs.  Generally playoff teams are picked by poll rankings as it is, so the championship games aren’t likely to mean as much.  Sports media likes extra games for coverage material with no regard to added wear and tear to the players.  Also,  fans that can’t stand a particular conference getting two teams in the playoffs think the games can keep that from happening even though sometimes conferences will have two of the best teams.  Normally there isn’t any more than two teams that are far above the rest even though on rare occasions there have been three.  There’s at least one blowout with the top four and adding eight more teams is doing nothing but supporting ESPN.

If UGA, Michigan, and KSU win there is a decent chance we will.

Bye week for top 4 conference champs is what makes them valuable in 12 team playoff.  Let the other 8 teams beat each other up while your team prepares for winner

Is it just me or with the playoffs expanding to 12 are conference championships now something that could be detrimental?

Looking at last night's debacle (FCW and those USC pussies) USC played themselves out. If it was 12 they would drop from a top seed to a bottom. If TCU, MI loses today, then they would lose several positions today. Meanwhile, teams like Alabama and OSU has 2 weeks off to reset, recover, and practice (sort of like OSU has now).

The only teams that would benefit are those at the 13,14, 15 spots trying to play in.

Are conferences now going have to decide the champion w/o a championship game otherwise the champion and 2nd place team potentially knocked themselves out of contention?

Bye weeks can sometimes disrupt a team’s rhythm, so it can be a two edged sword.

A team loses as an underdog in OT in a neutral site championship to #10 vs getting blown out as a favorite at home by a lower ranked team?

I’m not saying Clemson is incapable of winning. I’m saying I don’t think they would blow Bama out.

Neither team is as good as they have been in recent years, IMO.

That said, Bama didn’t get gutted by an unranked team.

Rumor has it that Bryce Young and Will Anderson will sit out the bowl game (both are likely 1st-round picks for the NFL next year). Take out the best player on offense and the best player on defense, then rework the numbers.

Plus, Traeshon Holden is gone (transfer portal), so that's 1 more skill position player with a decent amount of playing time that won't be there.

I’m sure Clemson has some players who are transferring or who will miss the bowl game, plus Clemson still has DJ at QB…

I would expect Young and Anderson to skip it, but I’m not sure Holden has been picked up yet.  I thought players entering the portal continued to practice with their team and could still play for a bowl game.  I’m not a hundred percent on that but it could get other teams an extra opportunity to see the player.

Terrible play calling down the line by TCU. Their QB got them up the field with his feet to get it to OT and you don't use him again?
They definitely don't deserve to be in the natty.

Two championship upsets in a row and we still have more football.
