Growing up we had an English walnut tree in front of the house. We picked up walnuts, dried and shelled them every year. My mom made English walnut pie instead of pecans. Pecan is better but I like walnut pie. However, pumpkin is my favorite.

Of the listed options I prefer pecan pie since that’s what we had growing up in the south and my 86-year-old mom still makes me one every year.
My first wife was big on sweet potato pie, which is a southern thing if y’all have never had it. Think of it kind of like pumpkin pie consistency, but not quite as sweet for those of us that don’t like a lot of sugar. Unfortunately, I went to the store one day to get sweet potatoes and I got yams instead and had my ass handed to me. I’m glad she’s gone and I’m married to a good woman now but yeah, that whole shopping incident stuck with me lol. |
