After the shooting who watched his shop?
I'm sure the cops wanted to question the shop owner. The riot doesn't get put on hold until he is done with the cops and I'm sure the shop got a little more attention from the "protesters" after they found out what happened. Could or did the shop own tell the cops to pound sand until this is over? |

I knew there was someone dead outside a pawn shop - didn't know it was the owner who did it. I'm in on this thread.

Just a random question- are the rules governing property security different if the store has an FFL and the looters are likely to steal firearms?
Not sure if that's the case here....just curious. |

They need to release the man. if people are taking kids into a burning target to loot, that man has a right to use deadly force, Savagery is running rampant.

Not to derail, but if the shop owner makes it to the other side he’s gonna be jumpy forever
Some of the locals will claim his scalp or try to, he should probably relocate or plan on being anxious forever |

Quoted: I would be surprised if you couldn't, especially in the confines of a dwelling or place of business. Even CA has a pretty liberal (the good kind) version of what is kosher in times of civil unrest and/or to stop arson. View Quote As long as the tools used for defense are approved by the king |

Quoted: Can you protect property with deadly force in MN? View Quote As best I can remember the laws- No. You can protect yourself/others if you are not able to flee, if in danger of grave bodily harm or death situation, ie- someone points a gun at you, you feel they are going to shoot and kill you so you can either try to flee, or if unable, then protect yourself and return fire. It's been a few years since I had my CC class which covers this and the laws, so I may be wrong slightly, but I think I am close to having it correct anyways. If I am wrong on this hopefully someone more knowledgeable chimes in. IANAL |

Wouldn't all the guy need to do is lock the door and be inside and it's breaking and entering an occupied dwelling? Being IN the building being broken into is often a very different level to reach for self-defense. Depends on if there is different treatment between occupied business and home though.

This is the most fucked up thing to occur during this event.
This dude is a 100% hero Attached File Damn shame he was born white. You can't protect your shit or yourself if you're a whitey |

A small business owner in his shop that has been abandoned to his own devices by the police defends his livelihood, his property, and his life during an out-of-control riot that's burning down the city around him (a riot that, by the way, was incited by the police publicly murdering a man).
HE gets arrested on the spot. The murderer with a badge who publicly executed a man on video was free with a small army of cops protecting him for days. It's fucking bullshit. |

Last night several business owners called into to the police to report they were firing on looters.
Specifically a couple of brothers using a shotgun to fire in the air.....bet they don't get charged with menacing with a firearm or some other bullshit. |
