I kept a can of beanie weenies in my frag pouch. It was an altogether different method of explosive in terms of employing the device and it's casualty radius but had no lack of lethality all the same when I used it.

What if you're inside the distance it takes to arm a 40mm? Want to drop it straight down an opening?

Doubtful if we adopted helmets in the "Nazi-style" - if it works, it works.

The PASGT helmet was design with the casualty reduction model of coverage in mind.

The reason we don't have stick grenades is that we have grenade launchers to cover the distance between the average throwers ability to throw and coverage by 60mm mortars

I am very familiar with those;

ETA: actually that's something different in the pic. Don't know what that is.

I'm pretty sure the reason we don't use a stick grenade is not only the carrying problem but also the fuze. The grenade fuze that the United States uses is the same basic design since WWI. Stick grenades used a completely different design that is simpler but probably inferior and I'll bet leads to more misfires. And the fuze after all is the most important part of the grenade. Why fix what isn't broken?

25mm rounds have an extremely small kill/casualty-radius. The 40x46mm grenades are anemic enough as it is (which is why modern launchers like the M320 can also use 40x51mm grenades).

I am wondering if they'll go entirely to the little 25 mm ones eventually (for propelled grenades).

SF and other types used to carry those.  Some have delayed fuses, etc.  They work fine.
