My first one (1995 M3), loved that car:

My second one, 2003 E46 330i with Performance Package (ZHP).  Basically a 4 dr M3 minus 100 HP.  Equal performance to the E36 M3, but 4 drs and great interior (Alcantara & cloth).  current one, but she mainly sits in the garage. Picked up in Germany via European Delivery program in spring of 2003.  Drove in Alps, Autobahn, etc.

The current gen of BMW's don't do as much for me.  I looked at replacing my 2003 with a 335 a few years ago and the price vs. over the top electronics/too much chrome/Lexus like looks was a turn off.  I was buying a serious sports sedan today I'd be looking at an Audi S4.

these bubbly looking bubble gum colored cars suck..

the best looking BMW, is also what I consider to be their truest drivers car

its everything a drivers car needed to be, and nothing more.

the new ones may be faster, go around a corner better... but I can't help but think it wouldn't be more then an novelty that wears off. the E30, would be a car that will make you smile around every corner, this car nailed it like very few have.

I like that 507 convertible on page one.

The Mrs. wants a Z3 but is too cheap to buy a car we can drive a few days a year, it rains here a lot.

Also she is a redhead and gets a sunburn in about 5 minutes. Sunblock 87 and hats can buy her about 15 minutes in the sun.

Lovin my 2007 335i sport coupe w/ 6MT.

I still would love to buy a E36 M3 someday but I don't think I ever will knowing the difference between the E36 M3 in the north american spec vs. the euro spec.
The NA ones are just too numbed down.

4 liter v8 revving to 8300 rpm does not get old
E30 m3 might be sexier, but bmw never made an m3 that doesn't connect you to the road
I've been in and driven faster cars, but none make me feel more alive than when I drive my e93 m3
You are just connected to the road. The car does what you want it to.

Agreed. E46 M3 is my dream.,..to bad I know it is a financial maintenance nightmare if it is anything like my 98e36 318i back in 01. Loved the car, wish it had more engine.

Far as I care, nope.

They've done their hardest to become a boutique brand.  A base model 4 series with the 3.0L is within $5k of a friggin Corvette.

ETA:  Here, I feel bad posting without having a picture of the one decent thing BMW released this year:
