Does anyone here actually do this? When I watch Motortrend TV or something about certain types of music or sports, the guys do this "bro hug" when they greet. Is this a thing?
When I go to the vape shop to get juice, the dude there will prompt me to to do the "fist bump". I don't mind that, but whatever happened to "how are you" and a hand shake? |

Ever try shaking the hand of a millennial? It usually feels like grabbing a bag full of fresh dog shit.
|
|
People do it in LA.
I don't like it, preferin a standard hand shake. Boomer, ok. |
|
My coworkers fist bump a lot.
Normally I'd rather shake your hand but in the hospital I figure it's slightly more hygienic. |

When they go for a hug, go ahead and take it up a notch and kiss them on the cheek. You know you want to, op

More tough guy wolf talk.
I like the bro hugs. People are typically a little better to people than they used to be. Sorry if black folks scare you |
|
Nothing wrong with the bro hug, but it should probably be reserved for those who have met previously. It's almost always awkward when done during an initial introduction. Even if it's between folks who know one another, both parties have to know it's coming or it's going to be awkward.

I don't get the fascination and disdain for what other people do. Who cares?
GD: " Freedom yo!" Also GD: "Why do people still go to the movies? Dumbasses." |

The inability of people on this site to navigate basic social interaction is sad

Only an old friend I haven't seen in a long time will get a bro hug. Everyone else gets a firm handshake.

LOL, never saw it until 7 or 8 years ago.
Black and millenial dads on my son's football team would always do it. I avoided it. I would sidestep, grab their hand and shake it. Became a challenge for a few. I made it the whole season. Leaving the post season banquet, one spun me, and another brohugged me. Against my will! I still feel great shame. |

Recently had an in law give me a bro hug as wife and I were preparing to leave after a visit with daughter and her family. He's a pretty reserved guy so I took it as a nice gesture.
Don't think Ive ever initiated a bro hug though, it wasn't a thing men did for most of my life. |

I was raised, on my Mother's side, in a large Sicilian family. Men hug and kiss each other on the cheek. The same for team mates. I hug my former team mates when we see each other. Strangers? No, I'm not hugging a stranger.

Two slaps on the back then let go.
Any more than that is weird. |
|
I agree OP. I have no wish to hug other men I barely know. Hand shake is just fine.
I guess that makes me a racist? |

You get a hand shake.
A firm one. If you need a hug, look elsewhere. Fags |

I hug my buddies and family members. I don't touch anyone else. Handshakes are for boomers and perverts.

What exactly is a bro hug? I have two buddies that both real hugs. They are like my brothers. Heck I’ve even kissed one of them on the cheek a couple of times.

Per movies some stuff you gotta see in theatres like Battle Angel or Midway In my work environment, fist bumps are common because it's likely your hands are dirty. One thought that just now occurs to me is that you would probably stand to shake someone's hand. To fist bump? Probably not. |

Vape shop/bro hug/....manbun
OP had vape shop and brohug but doesn't see/make the connection. Some things just seem to go together. |
