Quoted: Not counting the women who died from child birth, simple cuts, and other simple things easily cured today. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: this pandemic is barely a blip compared to the plagues thru history, war and plagues are more normal history wise than the happy comfortable safe lives we live today. The last 50 years has been the golden age for the human race, and weve forgotten that the real world is a ugly place. This is just a small reminder of the power nature has to fuck us up, and is eager too if we give it half a chance This. Go find an old cemetery from the 18th or 19th century and read headstones. Sometimes they listed how people died. You'll be surprised to find cases where mother, father and young children all died with a few years of one another. Not counting the women who died from child birth, simple cuts, and other simple things easily cured today. This seems like an appropriate time to post this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignaz_Semmelweis |

If the data and models continue to be as accurate as they are... this will not be over for quite some time.
Even if we fair well this spring the return in the fall will be just as severe. No way we can weather 18 months like this without massive permanent economic damage. The US will have 2 modern eras, before the coronavirus and after the coronavirus. This will be worse than the financial crisis and 9/11 put together. |

I for 1 will have trouble eating out ever again. It has already started. Its like a mental problem I have about people touching my food.
|

I just hope our enemies aren't paying attention to all of this. All China(or Russia) has to do from this point forward to destroy the U.S. is release a virus with a 5% or slightly higher mortality rate and we will destroy ourselves.

At the end of the day, I think this will have some good effects along with the bad. I think (hope) people will come to value things that are more important, like family and friends, self-reliance, and preparation. Maybe people will value Made in America more.
Then again, maybe I'm dreaming. I guess we'll see... |

I was born in 1957and have lived through a lot but this is some thing I have never seen or dealt with. I am worried the most for my children and grandchild. My wife and I are fine isolated in the country but my kids live in large cities. Hopefully a vaccine will be available soon. (But I know its still along way from being available.)

For the foreseeable future at least 2/3 yrs I'll be very wary of mass transit probably going to have to
wear gloves and a mask, anywhere there will be crowds I'll be very wary of and will do my best to stay away from interesting times for sure we'll see what Americas made of now . |

I completely underestimated the effect of 9-11, therefore I have no idea where the effect of the actions taken may lead. I can't figure if it's nothing other than a year or two of economic hardship for a significant number of people that were on there bubble of financially challenged or one world something. Faith is the only vision I've got beyond the right this moment.

Quoted: This. Bad actors in government now know which buttons to push. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I don't think he is asking if things will get back to normal like sales, businesses, the economy, etc. Yeah eventually it should be relatively back to normal. I think he is asking if it is going to bring permanent change to the world the way 9/11 did, and I think it will. Government isn't going to waste an opportunity to seize more control and power, and right now people seem happy to get it to them. They aren't going to give it back. This. Yeah. Hopefully people will get that even if you can't see germs, they still exists. And hopefully they will start washing their hands.

The only significant change I see coming out of this is the CCP and Chinese see what a disgrace Xi really is and oust him for another flavor of commie shit stain.

It is the beginning of what is to come, or should I say a glimpse of what is coming. Total government control over the people.. It is out there, now. Will never be put back in the bag. Getting folks more comfortable with it. Only essential workers are good, no need for frills except those in power, restrictions on movement, restrictions on on all kinds of things. The left is loving this shut down in more ways than folks care to admit. Bernie just hung it up, realized he was no longer really considered wacko nor was he needed to truly change things..best to go sit it out in his political houses/earnings..

Wasn't it the Chinese that had the story about the curse "May you live in interesting times"?

I don't know, been having trouble feeling the pulse w/ less irl interactions.
I've seen people with gloves and masks, and also people doing their normal thing, shootin the shit outside the 7-11 who have nothing on. Think things will shake out ok, some good and some warts that will stick with us, mostly related to governing (whether the state or private). A lot of shit will need to be reconciled though |

Quoted: Well we will see if this comes around again later this year or next year View Quote When/if it mutates into a real killer is what I'm concerned about. Every year I'd imagine we have a roll of the dice. The first thing we need to do is anex B.C. so we have unfettered access from lower 48 to AK. Because national security. Aside from all of the social changes, what has me concerned is how everything is shifting to the govt in more control, and handing out money like candy. I think we're about to see a major shift in how the govt and citizens work together. They'll have more control. We'll be more dependent upon them. |

View Quote That's why I keep racking my brain as to how we (i.e. Freedom lovers and Patriots) can proactively counter this trend. Hopefully a lot of people will become motivated to be self-reliant and prepared, and the .gov screw-ups will open more people's eyes. But, sadly, a pandemic also is one of those emergencies where "it takes a village" to squash it (i.e. everyone doing their part in reducing the spread), which by definition favors "communalists" over individualists - unless you already live the hermit life with zero interaction with others. But we need to point out government failures whenever we can, especially if it makes Democrats look bad, since Trump will need all the votes he can get in November. What looked like a shoe-in a couple of months ago - there was no way any of the Dem clownshoe candidates could have beat him barring massive fraud - the economy is going to be in shambles, which was his big claim to fame among ordinary Joes... |

Quoted: That's my take. The .gov loves control, it's their drug of choice. The pandemic gave them tons of new control under the State of Emergency, once the virus burns out they're not going to give up that control willingly. The .gov always takes more than it ever gives back. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: The world won't change, for now. Quoted: Take notes. There will be history books written View Quote My grandson is 13 and is old enough to see and understand what's been going on. I told him that his kids and grandkids will read about it (and hopefully that's all) in their history lessons. My Mom used to talk about WWII ration coupons and the like, but never had to worry about leaving the house. My Grandfather talked about being gassed on the Western Front, but when he came back home he went back to work and lived a normal life. Sometimes I have a hard time believing this is really happening. |

No way we'll be in the shape were in last January five years from now. The tipping point for well established well run companies to survive unscathed is upon us. I frankly expect a pretty bad meltdown in all areas across all types of businesses.

More teleworking by business.
Mandatory for many, reducing office space costs and also head counts. Massive increase in communications infrastructure to support this. Amazon, Walmart, and Costco grow more powerful and become dominant retail. The death of malls will accelerate. More self checkout at brick and mortar stores. Movie theaters in real trouble. China increases financing and control of the movie industry. Major sports stadiums in trouble. Most money comes from tv anyway. Major increase in medical preparation by hospitals and governments. Incredible advances in medicine. Militaries of the world resume research in biological weapons. Bioterrorism by college educated amateur. |

This site and all the stupid youtube, facebook, instagram, twitter, tiktok, etc. posts and videos will be the real history of this event. Future learning isn't going to have a single paragraph blurb for every era like we all generally had.

Things are always changing. People think of a short snapshots of time as being normal. But that is how things were briefly. This is a bigger/faster change, thats all.
