And these are the people that want to pass "common sense" gun laws.
SMH. |
|
What are those things that come out of the side of the gun then?
|
|
It doesn’t show the bullet rising after exiting the barrel either, that’s the whole point of rifling...

The context of this was an AP article where she was claiming her home was shot by American forces (I think).

I must be buying cheap ammo. Less than half my bullet goes down the barrel.
|
|
In real life the barrel isn't actually cut in half, the just have to show that for instructional purposes.

No wonder my groups are all screwy..I need to figure out why the back half of my bullet gets thrown out the back end of the gun.

When I was dating my wife in college, I bought an ammo can of 5.56.
I opened a box and showed her tghe cartridges... "That WHOLE thing goes in you when you get shot!?" ..."Um...no. Just this small piece." |

When I was a lad (8ish) I did not have anyone to teach me about firearms but I was fascinated by them. I would ride my bicycle to a pharmacy that had a magazine rack. They sold Guns & Ammo Magazine and I saw a cut away of a firearm. I already thought that the entire cartridge *fired* but I never could figure out how. The cut away showed springs. I figured that was how. However it still did not make sense. I did not understand where the bang came from and rimmed cartridges seemed like a horrible design. How would that go down the barrel? Hell, I thought you bought magazines already loaded and they were a one time use item. I saw magazines being loaded on a TV show and that was a real revelation.
Within a year or so, a friends father, explained it all to me and took me shooting several times. It all made perfect sense. |

I obviously can't type drunk...
