Pretty good deal.
https://www.thrillist.com/amphtml/news/nation/cheap-flights-iceland-sale-2018 The Reykjavik-based WOW Air is offering $69 one-way tickets right now, which is about as cheap as you're going to find on fares to the island nation. All-in, you can find round-trip passage for as little as $168.99. Those low-cost flights are available out of Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis. |

Just saw this on 4chan. Apparently it's one of those zero-frills carriers, you get a seat but absolutely nothing else (including carryons or checked luggage) unless you pay extra.
|
|
|
Good thing you can save a few bucks on airfare, because you get bent over hard buying anything once you get on the ground in Iceland.

+1 on Bonus
Iceland is beautiful but expensive as all get out. My bag got lost, and I needed some thermal pants for ice water snorkeling we were planning the next day. You cannot buy sweatpants in Iceland for less than $100. I am not kidding. (we checked 7 stores) |

Did a lot of shopping at Bonus. Loved the pylsa and the marinated leg of lamb steaks. View Quote Cost for 2? Over $100. The airplane may well be subsidized for costs by the althing to get tourists there and trap / trick them into hemmoraging their wallet just to survive the week. 66 Nordur clothing costs more than cancer treatments. Forgot your jacket? A cold front is coming? F you that will be $500 for the icelandic jacket. Takk fyrir. Heres what $300 gets you in Iceland. Doesnt even come with sleaves. Pack clothes, shop at Bonus, and rent a car and drive the ring road. Welcome to a terraformed Mars. Stunning beauty. No buy things. |

I'll never go back... it's been ruined over the last 10 years by low airfares bringing in people who give zero fucks. If I was a native Icelander I'd be pissed.

Sounds like a super cheap way to travel to Europe. $69.00 to Iceland then connect to Germany/France/Poland without leaving the airport. I looked real quick and saw round trip @ 275.00 from Reykjavik to Berlin.

My Daughter just flew them...Cleveland to Keflavik then to London...(visit Europe on her own for 20 days)...then Dublin to Keflavik to Cleveland....
No frills, extra charge for the backpack she brought, but otherwise a good flight... |
|
There was a member here who’s AF plane stopped there for the night. They ordered pizza and a 12pk of beer and it was some outlandish amount of money.
|

I was there last month. Flew Wow air to Dublin.
Its definitely a no frills airline. Everything cost extra except for the toilet, yes even water. I did have a good $16 dollar sandwich The standard seats don’t recline. It’s only worth it if you are trying to fly extremely Cheap. We had a 22 layover on the way back. The country it’s self is pretty cool, Literally. We hit the blue lagoon, a black sand beach and went To Reykjavík. There were lots of good looking women. I would go back at least once. Also the bonus store is a must Anyone thinking of going should definitely do it! |
|
I went to Iceland 5 times, every time I went the airfare was free!

Quoted: My neighbor does this yearly and has nothing but good things to say about it. I don't know if it is wow or not though. View Quote Not going this year sadly, I wish I could though. I've been twice already. Little tip when flying WOW air though, your luggage is NOT free and will be an additional ~$60 each leg. So if you want to bring anything more than a backpack it's not actually going to be that cheap. Another thing: NOTHING is provided on the flight. Not even water. Not kidding. However, if you ask for hot water for tea they'll give you a cup and you can just let it cool off and drink that... It's BS. If you've ever had even the slightest inkling about going to Iceland - WOW air is a good way to go just... know what you're getting what you are paying for - which is not much more than airfare. Suggestions on places to go: 1. 64.023042,-21.211026: Amazing 1 hour hike up to these natural hot springs. 2. Seljalandsfoss 3. Skógafoss 4. Solheimasandur Plane Wreck 5. Lake Mývatn 6. Hverfjall 7. 65.430944, -14.599455 Amazing view. 8. Snaefellsjoekull National Park - Don't go here during the winter, you won't be able to do much. :/ If anyone has any questions feel free to ask! I'd post my pictures that I've taken on my trips, but I don't want to go too crazy with my first post here. :P |

Got cheap flights there, but a burger at any cheap restaurant will still cost you $30.
Make sandwiches from stuff you buy at Bonus or Kronan. Beautiful country though. Flying WOW Airlines is like flying Spirit. If you're okay with that, go for it and travel during the shoulder (April and October). You'll still be able to see Northern lights and it won't be dead winter. Also, Iceland is the windiest country in the world. Pack accordingly. |
