Yep,finally get rid of the poor!!

Sad thing is,there are actually people that believe that. Guy in the next town over that inherited the grocery store form his Dad thought that way. 20.00 minimum wage and everyone would be fine.

After numerous discussions,I just quit going there.

If you actually believe that.  The really important thing is that there used to be a time when being a Republican meant being fiscally conservative.  Oh my have times changed when conservatives, Republicans, or whatever name they are called in the era of DJT are now praising the passing out of money left and right and supporting the POTUS in doing so.  I wonder if these same sentiments will be the case if a Democrat does the same thing.

You are cherry picking the best examples you can find from the 70s, and picking the worst examples you can find from present day. A quality house today is better than a house built in the 70s, cars are more reliable today than in the 70s, and if you buy a quality mixer today it's just as reliable as one from the 70s. And there is absolutely no debate that quality of life in 2020 is better than the 70s.

Still disagree. You're actually the one, maybe unknowingly, cherry picking and missing the norm versus the exception.

Then and now, the majority of people live in cookie cutter subdivisons. You're not going to find quality components in a cookie cutter subdivision built by a developer these days versus one from back then - laminate flooring vs actual hardwood, particle board cabinetry vs solid wood, hollow core doors throughout vs solid core, and so on. Not to mention the majority of the components in the modern house are lower quality manufactured in China (fixtures, drywall, etc.) vs manufactured in the US. If one wants the quality you're describing, you have to have a home custom built and they aren't usually in the subdivisions most people live in. Do those exist? Absolutely but they are the exception, not the norm.

Cars today may be mechanically more reliable for their life but their overall lifespan is going to be shorter in the long run. They're driven to the end of their useful lives and scrapped, not rebuilt and certainly not collected. Not to mention, there's plenty of evidence that today's government mandated increasingly fuel efficient vehicles kill more people at the expense of meeting said standards due to the necessity of being smaller and built of lighter weight materials.

With the example of the mixer, you're correct that there are certainly quality ones available but, we're back to the example of the house. Folks that will spend the extra money on one of those now high end, quality ones are the exception, not the norm. Most people will just get the cheap, widely available one from Walmart. Back then, the durable, quality one was the norm.

I don't disagree that overall quality of life is better than the 1970s, in that more people enjoy more everyday conveniences, but it revolves around disposability and actually comes at the expense of long term durability.

The Dems are blocking it because their ability to manipulate the election on a massive scale and oust Trump hangs in the balance.

What I do blame his supporters for is continuing to support him when he does reprehensible shit. Instead of holding him accountable you defend him which makes the entire party accountable for his actions. You corrupt your own values. Thats fine if that is who you want to be. I think you are off by a few decades regarding homes, but I do agree with you there. I live I a 70’s house and it’s a POS, maybe it’s regional, but I think it’s the worst decade for homes. Maybe it was the first generation of really poor building quality.

I can see the point more with 1950’s and earlier houses. Even the low cost housing, small ft, 2 bed, 1ba, look mostly the same, at least the roof is made of real wood and not plywood.

Yeah, if it's late '70s you're probably right. The 1960s was probably the last full decade of solid quality. Late 70s is about when you start getting into the lower quality that started becoming much more prevalent in the '80s. I lived in a 1979 manufacture house and the cheapness was definitely creeping in. That said it felt more "solid" overall, using material like actual plywood vs OSB for subfloor and sheathing, than my brother's $380k McMansion that's only 2 years old. His place looks nicer but you can tell it's only skin deep. I wouldn't want to be living in it in 20 years.

trump has been fun to watch making a mess in dc. hes done some good things, a lot of good things.

but he has 'jumped the shark' and stealing from me just to give to people sitting at home living it up while i am busting my hump with a shovel out in the hot ass sun every day is more then i am willing totolerate.

maybe some other people can go earn their own way instead of living off the fruits of my sweat, blood and tears daily.

work never stopped for me during this whole mess, it just got more demanding. i am more then a little pissed most of the country is sitting around laughing and lounging while i am paying for the .gov check they are drawing.

president owns this mess, and looks like he is no longer denying it.

but he has 'jumped the shark' and stealing from me just to give to people sitting at home living it up while i am busting my hump with a shovel out in the hot ass sun every day is more then i am willing totolerate.

maybe some other people can go earn their own way instead of living off the fruits of my sweat, blood and tears daily.

work never stopped for me during this whole mess, it just got more demanding. i am more then a little pissed most of the country is sitting around laughing and lounging while i am paying for the .gov check they are drawing.

president owns this mess, and looks like he is no longer denying it.

4d chess indeed. here we are, trump says the dems are the only ones with any fucking sense and honestly i am starting to believe it

But remember!  We have to vote Republican in order to save the republic because it's the most important and consequential election of our lifetimes!

Oh, look, a 2019 with no EE feedback and no membership encouraging people not to vote.

That's interesting.

Lol.

He don't think crumple zones be like it is, but it do.

New cars are far safer than anything from the 70s. Those heavy all steel cars from the 70s often meant you got an engine in your lap cutting you in half during a bad wreck.

i dont recall in my entire life any president this blatantly taking my money and directly giving it to other people to spend as they like.

i busted my ass to earn that money, and the sitting president is going to just take it from me and redistribute it to everyone else and leave me out of it?

and he wants my vote?
