Quoted: You are not wrong, though I believe there are some useful differences in the hull and turret armor composition, and definitely improvements in the ERA Bad tactics in Ukraine are getting tons of tanks wiped out and I am sure the Abrams would get smoked too with the same bad tactics, but one thing I am becoming more certain about is that even with potential improvements in the armor package of the T90 they aren't enough to make a difference, and they are still getting killed in large numbers by ATGMs So yeah, T90 not being much better than a T72 is likely true and something I don't disagree with View Quote How many Abrams have been lost due to enemy fire? The front OEM headlights are all LED and HID already. The license plate lights are already LED, and I had to replace them once. Water got into a connector on one of them, found aftermarket ones way cheaper (and brighter) than OEMs. I also did Zevo LEDs in the SRT-4 all around. Headlights are still high output halogens (I think they're the +30 clear glass Philips variety). Ricky will love this...
The mount and suppressor are the same manufacturer. Simple really, if your suppressor is on the small side tolerance, and your mount is on the large size tolerance, then add some coatings to the surfaces. See where you get some tight fits? I just put poly grease on, tighten till it’s tight, remove, clean, regrease, repeat. I have the most problems with those xeno mounts, but never had to do anything else. |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: This thread...what is it about??? Which is what I would expect - T-84 is an improved T-80, which was the "high" part of the Russian tank "high/low" fleet mix to the T-72 "low", and the T-90 is just an improved T-72. So yes, the T84 is better but I suspect the armor protection isn't high enough on the T84 to protect against the T90 cannon (same gun, 125mm 2A46), so whoever sees first and shoots first is likely to win local small scale engagements. It's not clear to me who has the better fire control system or if the differences are enough to make a difference. Details on the effectiveness of their thermal optics are hard to come by, so it's tough for me to say who has better thermal. If they both do and have similar fire control systems again it comes down to who sees first and shoots first Russia seems to have a pretty fat morale problem and is on the offense too, so that favors Ukraine unless it's a movement to contact / counter attack by the Ukrainians |

I always thought that was super pimp I'm skeptical of anything like this taking out a T62 or T55 from the front. Stopping large caliber cannon rounds from the front is obviously the one thing that an MBT is designed to do. There are reports of T55s getting taken out in Iraq 1 by the Bushmaster on the Bradley but to me these all sound like urban legend stuff. I don't see how it is technically possible Then again who knows. Maybe its legit That's a Sabre, not a Scimitar. The Scimitar was better. The 30x170mm APDS is better than 25mm APDS and worse than 25mm APFSDS so if it killed anything from the front they got lucky and hit something that wasn't meant to take a round.
