Looking for something better than what I have.  I have a couple of these but I'm not happy with the caps.  They leak when I transport.  So, any suggestions?

I just use the empty 5qt jugs. I always have a couple of those ready to go. When I collect 8 or so I take them to the local used oil dropoff.

Same except I use a Fumoto valve and drain the oil straight into the old jug.

I drain the oil into a pan, fill engine with new oil, and put old oil in the now empty jugs.

They sit in my garage until I move which is when I'll finally drive them to the dump.

Got a 30 gallon drum from the previous owner that's nearly full of used racing motor oil.

But then I also got a 50gal that's empty they left. Not sure I want to start filling it with motor oil... or try to turn it into a oil burning furnace...

Go get an inexpensive 5 gallon water/gas/diesel jug.

They last ...easy to transport....easy to empty....cheap....have handles ....etc.

Get a metal one and it will last longer.

The ground behind the garage or the storm drain on the street.

I just use the container the new oil came in, just empty the drain pan into them.
Have yet to have an issue

I used to use the old oil jugs, but now I use 5 gallon buckets with the lids.  I need to make a trip to the county dump now, got an old mattress to toss and 3 or 4 five gallon buckets to dump into their big used oil tank.

Oil catch pan, then back into the original 5qt oil jug. From there to the township house for use in their used oil heater.

FPNI.  I buy Mobil Delvac 1 in the big jugs and pour the used oil out of my Mityvac oil extractor back into the empty jugs when I change my oil.  I dispose of the used oil at the local parts store.

I always wondered what people did with their oil. We have a 500 gallon tank that some random dude drains it once a year.

This is what I use. Holds 275 gallons. It is big enough the oil service companies will come empty it for free when it is full which happens about once a year.Attachment Attached File

This.

Its less than 5 bucks for the combo at home depot, and you take the bucket and lid home with you after you recycle the oil.

5 gallon jug with a pour spout.

I add a EZ pour vent, makes it a lot easier to dump at the recycling center.

I keep two in the garage to fill up with waste oil.    Two will last me through oil changes of everything I have, then take them to Auto Zone and dump them.

They are durable and you can stack them.  I use them for brass too.

I used those for years, until I figured out it was cheaper to get my oil changed at the shop down the road than it was to buy oil and a filter.  Same guy has been doing it for years.  I'll do more expensive repairs myself, but I'm done changing oil.
