You can still carry then openly; with the top part protruding from the pocket

Where do you see that it passed the house? LIS shows it was reported out of committee, it still needs to go to floor. Unless LIS is not up to date, which would not be surprising.

So brave of them. How about undoing all the anti 2A crap the democrats passed? Sitting on the speakers desk.
Won't pass the senate, but at least get them there. |

Quoted: Slowly you guys are turning into England, one weapon at a time View Quote Police, most notably in NYC, were going after anyone with a knife using “switchblade” laws. They would hold them by the blade and if they could get it to open one handed they would charge them with possessing a switchblade. They did this to too many regular dudes who were minorities and it became a movement to undo these switchblade laws which were passed in the 50s because of media sensationalism. It is generally with bipartisan support these laws are being repealed. PA just removed switchblades from the list of prohibited offensive weapons this year and it was a democrat governor that signed it. |

|
The funny part is I want this to pass but I don't care. Which is REALLY weird for me because normally I would be illegally carrying one anyways just because the government banned it.
I just can't see me trading in a folder for a switchblade. I still obviously want the repeal to go through, though. |

HB 2298 not listed among bills passed by House

A bill reported out of committee is supposed to be placed on the “daily house calendar.”
So far, all I’m finding in that regard is this: https://virginiageneralassembly.gov/house/schedule/meetingSchedule.php |

I never understood any of these items banned from carry by a CCW permit holder. I can carry a pistol that will allow me defend myself at a distance but carrying a switchblade/nunchuck/knuckles that require me to be up close is forbidden.

View Quote Fellow Virginia Patriots, Thanks to spineless 'leadership' in Richmond, time has run out to Repeal Red Flag and Pass Constitutional Carry. You see, Tuesday is crossover day. That is the final day in this Session in which a Bill can pass one chamber before it is considered dead for the year....but there is something you can do about that, click here to find out more. Speaker Todd Gilbert (R-15) has shown his utter lack of support for the 2nd Amendment by literally letting both HB1393 and HB1394 rot on his desk! As Speaker, Gilbert decides which bill actually get voted on each year, and once again Gilbert has chickened out and let Northam's Gun Grabbing Schemes in place. You can see for yourself by clicking here. Gilbert has had since last November to simply put these bills up for a vote in committee, but siding with Joe Biden and the rabid anti-gunners, he has personally stopped restoring the 2nd Amendment in Virginia. And yet now, Gilbert is sending out campaign mailers claiming he supports the 2nd Amendment! But the anti-gunners are not as spineless as Gilbert. They have passed Senate Bill 1382 banning all modern sporting rifles and standard capacity magazines in Virginia. And now that Bill is going to be sitting squarely on Speaker Gilbert's Desk! And here is what could happen- Gilbert supports the Ban of All "Black Scary Rifles", which is very possible, watching his anti-gun antics this session, or Gilbert will move to defeat Senate Bill 1382, and then send out tons of campaign mailers, lying and saying how pro-gun he is. At this point, I put zero faith in Gilbert doing anything that does not help his political career. Even if he works to defeat the Ban on Modern Firearms, he has done NOTHING for the 2nd Amendment, except protect and preserve the Northam Anti-Gun Agenda! In all my years in politics, this is typical of the fake, establishment leadership all around the Republic. The Anti-gunners pass a ton of anti-gun schemes, then Republicans campaign to repeal those laws, but once elected do nothing. Then the Anti-gunners take charge again, and further destroy the 2nd Amendment. Are you going to let this happen again? It is not just the 2nd Amendment he has been selling out. From Real School Choice, to protecting the unborn to just about every conservative piece of legislation in 2023, Gilbert has refused to even allow a vote. Just where is he getting his marching orders from? I think we all know. The Swamp is deeper in Richmond than many people think. While attacking true conservatives such as Delegate Marie March (R-7), the Swampsters in Richmond have protected liberal members of their own party. You have to ask why... Maybe because the entire establishment leadership in Richmond are just left wingers hiding behind the R label? This is why I know the Republican Party Leadership in Virginia needs an enema, and you can give it to them. The 2023 Primary Season is almost here, and that means it is RINO Season! Maybe I do sound a bit bitter right now, it is because I am. Our team has spent thousands of hours and your hard earned donations to fight to restore the 2nd Amendment, only to watch left leaning fake conservatives such as Gilbert and his masters act like Democrats. Now, with your help, we are going to do something about it. In 2019 we created our program, Restore Virginia Now. We worked hard for two years to wrestle control of the House of Delegates back from the Richmond Radicals, only to watch the failed 'republican leadership' literally stab us in the back. But now it is our turn. Primary elections matter more than the General Election in 2023. If you support the 2nd Amendment, you cannot see it any other way. Over the past three years, we have trained thousands of activists, campaign staff and candidates to fight to Restore Virginia. In fact, this coming weekend we are training even more in Spotsylvania. I am inviting you to click here to sign up and help us make the swampsters pay for their anti-gun actions by clicking here, If you cannot attend this upcoming Saturday, I am asking you to donate whatever you can to help us take back Virginia by clicking here, No matter the amount you give, we will put it to use to fight all of the anti-gunners in Richmond, no matter what team jersey they wear. Second reading and engrossed today
Attached File If a bill passes its second reading, which usually occurs with a voice vote, it is engrossed and proceeds to third reading. If the voice vote outcome is unclear, the Speaker may initiate or any member may request a "division." When a "division" is called, a vote is then taken by a show of hands. A member may request a recorded division by addressing the Speaker and requesting a vote of "Yeas and Nays." The Speaker will then request a vote of those who wish "Yeas and Nays." In order to call for such a recorded division, there must be twenty percent of those members present supporting such procedure. The call for the "Yeas and Nays" must be timely. If amendments are adopted, the bill is reprinted incorporating the changes. The next day it is placed on the Calendar for its third and final reading. At this point, the House determines whether the bill will pass and be sent to the Senate for its consideration. Normally on the third reading, after the Clerk reads the title, the Speaker says, "Shall the bill pass?" A recorded vote is then taken and the bill is either passed or defeated. If a member is seated but fails to vote, this fact may be called to the attention of the Speaker by another member and he will be recorded as voting "no."Note, however, that even after approval on the second or third reading, amendments to the bill may be made. A bill can be spoken to on the third reading but not amended, so the procedure used to accomplish such an amendment is rather complicated. For example, the member who wants to amend the bill after it has passed its second reading must first be recognized by the Speaker. He would then move to "reconsider the vote by which the bill was engrossed and passed to its third reading for purposes of amendment." This motion can only be made by one who was on the prevailing side of the vote on the bill at its previous reading. |

Was it really so crucial to specify that it’s a switchblade stiletto knife?
What a bunch of assholes. FWIW, I celebrate any inroads we make in furthering our freedoms, but I have zero interest in those silly things. I have better knives for anything a switchblade (stiletto!) knife can do. |

View Quote As I understand the amendment, the Senate version strikes "switchblade knife" from the list of items you can't carry concealed and replaces it with "stiletto knife," which is a previously undefined term. The house version just struck "switchblade knife" without the replacement. This is far from final. The house and senate versions will have to go to a conference committee, and it can change there. The conference version then has to pass both houses. It then goes to the governor, and he can offer amendments and send it back. |
