Shitty night, my dudes.

Cornbread had a violent meltdown and tried to commit suicide. His attempt was spectacularly unsuccessful (he ate silica gel), but it was still an attempt. He got to take a ride to the ER and will be on a psych hold for a while.

Ooof.

They tried to call it “behavioral” and send him back home to us. Not happening. The on call social worker can handle it from here. He’s not coming back here. Between trying to hurt the impette and the violence we saw tonight, this is no longer his home.

Listening as well as i can to the concept of why we are so under equipped to treat mental illness in adults, let alone children...
No doubt there are methods being worked through now to represent a durable treatment that outweighs the perceived reasons to deny trying.

Continuing to listen is the only method i have here myself

There’s no money in it outside of expensive drug rehab places, and a shit ton of liability. Especially with kids. So best options are foregone for affordability and expediency with little thought to effectiveness. And ever since the disbanding of the vast majority of government run mental institutions, an adequate private solution hasn’t presented itself. It’s one of the few areas where I support a government solution to the problem (and you may not know me, but that is a very rare thing for me).

One of the things we’re seeing in the autism community is assisted living communities for people who need someone looking over their shoulder but don’t need 24/7 care.

Speaking of, the boy officially graduates this evening. The next unknown chapter begins.

Today Mia finally gets spayed. Pretty excited we're finally able to get that done. Very anxious about what it'll do to her back and how long she'll be hurting.

For now though, she looks really confused as to why she hasn't gotten breakfast.

Insurance's main job is to deny payments.  Secondary job is to secure revenue.  Somewhere down the line is to pay for medical services.

Sent this to our HSE dept heads this morning, but I CC'd the VP.

My day should go swimmingly.

"We are scheduled to be putting a frac into bay 1 at some point today (hopefully) for IQA. This will need to be rigged up for pressure to complete the audit.
I requested additional restraints for this bay on 4/11/23 and have been told on multiple occasions that this order has been approved, yet we are still without these restraints.
We will have to use the old 8k psi and 5k psi restraints that are all either missing tags, have unreadable tags or way out of date tags.

Once again, I’m requesting acknowledgement/approval for this, as it is our only option right now."

You should give yourself a raise to offset the additional cost.
