In the interview I read in the Marine Corps Times with his wife she said they nailed it! The only part she said was not right was when he saw his brother (I don't know what part of the movie). She said his brother wouldn't act like that. I don't know who did the interview with her. lol yeah she would totally take time out from stuffing money in her purse to give an honest opinion of the movie. Yeah. She must have been lying when she said she cried when she saw the movie. Money grubber. If the movie "nailed it", then the book was almost entirely fiction. |

I'm holding off judgement until I hear Roebuck's review on the film.

I never expect Hollywood to make a two hour movie that mimics a book outside of a the broad overall plot. The two just don't translate well one for one into each other due to various factors. If it were a graphic novel it would probably translate better into a movie, but it was a straight-up book.
Hollywood also has to take the entertainment factor into consideration and sometimes that means changing things or artistic license. So, I go to the movies for "entertainment" and to enjoy the movie a fictional story. |

Good ones. Blackhawk Down I know, incredible variations there too. But part of that was the desire to write the kid toucher out of the movie, and it was at least entertaining. |

Trailer #2 does kind of try to portray him that way, he cries in a bar, telling his wife he is stateside but not ready to come home, then they make it appear later in the trailer that he is saying "I'm ready" (implied to come home) while talking to his wife on the phone during combat. Maybe the trailer was edited dishonestly. They portrayed his brother as a beaten, broken, man. Which sure as hell wasn't in the book. |

No matter what gun, movie, game, series, actor, singer, or verbiage anyone likes, there is always that one guy in GD who shows up and pisses in the punch. You sir, may be that guy. I don't trust your review, sir. Here's hoping I am proven right.
Also just watched Unforgiven. Epic. |

Kinda seems like a chickenshit way to handle that part. I didn't say anything about graphic violence, or showing him actually get shot. If there's a valuable lesson in all this, isn't it that the real enemy is in the mirror, or at home? Seems like a wasted opportunity to put some focus on PTSD. Like some more backstory on how it ended up that way. |

It isn't out yet here. I haven't read the book so the movie won't be able to let me down in that regard.
