I'm sure I asked this question before but I can't find the thread now, seems like it has disappeared. So, I'll ask again.

Needs 4wd.
Needs some space inside for tools out of the weather. Battery powered saws and stuff like that. Not anything big.
I think I would prefer something like a jeep cherokee. Prefer.
I could live with a truck with a big cab if that makes the most sense.
I need to be able to comfortable seat 3 or 4 people if I have to.
I could live with standard transmission, I'm rarely in heavy traffic.
I really want AC.
As reliable as possible.
I have no interest in creature comfort other than AC.
I want to spend $6,000.00 or less.
Gas mileage is not such an important issue. I don't drive that far and the vehicle will spend some days sitting instead of driving.
Reliable.
If I could put a snow plow on it that would be better.
Reliable.
I'd like a jeep cherokee.
Reliable.
I can do repair work but I don't love it.
I need to be able to pull a trailer with a zero turn mower on it.

Go.
Thanks.

Have you priced the car market recently within the last year?

A time machine and a OJ Bronco with a straight 6 4.9L.
Reliable and under $6k with those other requirements in todays market doesn't exist unless grandpa doesn't drive his truck anymore and gives it to you.

Why not a truck with a camper shell or tonneau cover?   Although the 6k thing will be tough right now.  Maybe a former fleet truck that's being offloaded.

Why not break the bank and get a 1942 Willys G503?

We have a Jeep GRAND Cherokee Limited, 2019, with the 3.6L V6 and it fits all your description except price.  While I would not use ours as a work vehicle, it is most definitely capable.  The dual overhead cams, variable valve timing, variable valve lift all aluminum block/heads engine is a very stout performer.

Or more budget. You'd have better luck at $60k.

If I were you, I'd get an Isuzu Vehicross. It doesn't check off very many of your needs, but you should get one anyways.

Maybe up towards the city a jeep that looks like crap would be less expensive, because it looks like crap.

You will end up putting a bunch of money into fixing a $6K truck in the first few years anyway.  I would rather spend it up front one something much more reliable to begin with.

6k will get you a nice s10 blazer or decent  90s cherokee. Grand cherokee with a 4.0 is also solid and less cute then the xj so better value.  All of those are cheap to fix and have many for sale with 250k miles .Maybe find a decent Tahoe or suburban in that price also.

A 30 year old vehicle with 250,000 miles on the clock, is not at all in the realm of reliable.  In fact you could plate it as a "classic car" in most states, 10 years ago.

Chevrolet Trailblazer/GMC envoy with the 4200 engine. A slightly older one with the 4.3 would work too.

Should be easy to find something small, modern with good AC, that will not only fit a plow without destroying itself, but also tow a trailer, seat 6, have plenty of room for $6K

Easy... LOL

To Marketplace!!!!!!

Time machine and an '03 to '09 GX470.....

Up it $4,000 and you might be able to swing a little higher mileage 470...

Full time 4wd, plenty of space, V8, huge aftermarket, plenty of parts availability, etc.

Raise your budget $60k and get a 2021 F150 5.0 4x4 supercrew.

Put construction materials in the back and air compressor and DEWALT tough boxes of tools in the back.

Late 90s to early 2000s Tahoe with ~200k miles is what you are describing.

Yeah I know GM sucks. But there were assloads of them built and many parts interchange with pickups so parts availability is decent.

I was going to suggest a MB G Class SUV or the Sprinter 4x4.

You’re going to need to up your budget by a factor of 20 though.

Maybe it's just because of being in the rust belt, but older 4x4's can be had for way less than $6k here. Yes, they're old. Yes, they have miles on them. Yes, they're rusty. Doesn't mean they can't be made reliable with a little elbow grease and a few bucks.

My kid got his first car, a S10 Blazer, for $900. We spent about a grand fixing things (including a set of new tires) over the summer. I might not run it across the country yet, but it's plenty reliable for someone to go back and forth to work/school in.

That said, go get an AMC Eagle
