Can you name at least one?

Lord of the Rings (not sure if it counts as a remake, but they're better than the late 70's version.)
Casino Royale |

Apocalypse Now & Heart of Darkness
The ending of the Japanese remake of Unforgiven is better than the original, and more in keeping with Spaghetti/Kurosawa movie themes Island of Dr. Moreau, now that I know the horrifying backstory of its production |

Bear Man from True Grit |

Airplane was an almost line-for-line remake of a movie called Zero Hour, but changed the tone to a comedy rather than disaster flick.

It
Original is a classic. But the remakes were 100 times more enjoyable for me |

Ben Hur.
No, not the 2016 film. The all-time great 1959 version was actually preceded by a 1925 silent version. Gotta be the best remake in the history of remakes. |

|
Robocop. Remake was a much more serious movie. The first is a classic and great in its own way, but the remake is better.
The Thing was better than the 1951 original. |
|
They've already been mentioned, but The Thing and True Grit.
Also, The Fly and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. |
