There were no military shooters when I was growing up. Well, except for playing army with friends or playing with green army men. But no actual military shooter video games.

Delta force and df2 " Blackhawk down".
After that moh warfighter.. Then the CODs. |
|
I enjoyed the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six on the OG Xbox myself, and still play them today at times.

I think the first one I put a significant amount of time into was Medal of Honor: Frontline.

Quoted: The one where I went outside and played war with my friends. View Quote OK boomer. No FPS when i was young (I guess Doom? I didn’t play it). GI Joe NES Attached File |

Growing up i was on a BMX bike in the 80's. Diamondback, Redline or a GT.
Most time on a FPS mil shooter would be the original COD - Modern Warfare. 2nd would be BF2. |

Return To Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer In 2021 - Gameplay (PC HD) [1080p60FPS] I liked the sniper servers. |

Battlefield 2 Intro Remastered (HD) |

Rainbow 6: Ravenshield, and Call of Duty/United Offensive.
Call of Duty (in my opinion) really went downhill after UO. There were a couple of good attempts to bring it back to its former glory, but nothing really compares. |

Contra? I don't know. I wasn't much into games past the NES. I did have Rainbow Six and Halflife in the late 1990s. |

My math teacher brought his TRS-80 computer into his classroom and set it up on a table, when I was in high school.
He would let us play ASCII based D&D. It seemed pretty cool at the time. |

Quoted: Pretty sure I had the most hours in Battlefield 2 Played with a lot of my friends online but it also allowed you to play single player with computer bots. I had a bunch of mods that allowed me to play single player against bots on 64 player sized maps and could set the difficulty higher for the bots. Seemed like it had a good amount of maps, no kit was overpowered, and just a lot of fun. Also wasn't overly complicated too. The weapon sight your kit came with was the one you used. Think the assaultman still had A2 sights. All of the crazy good players were still playing Counterstrike at the time so the learning curve wasn't insane either. Loved the old M4A1 with the Aimpoint. Didn't have a fake crisp perfect red dot either, had a more realistic glare dot seen on the old Aimpoint M68. https://i.imgur.com/YF28xQz.jpg https://acdn.mitiendanube.com/stores/002/701/124/products/135025-battlefield-2-windows-screenshot-a-good-sniping-position21-7e39a83f992d095cf216747028792955-1024-1024.jpg The expansion packs were fun too. First time I really learned about the SCAR. Night vision was actually somewhat realistic too. https://osiris.gamefront.com/gamefront/screenshots/57/files2/96414_1.jpg https://media.moddb.com/cache/images/mods/1/17/16130/thumb_620x2000/Night_Vision.png View Quote You should check out battlebit reloaded. It’s got that same BF2 vibe. Great game. |

Soldiers were an inch or more high with various weapons. The game maps were usually carved into the dirt Attached File |

Oh man, I played a lot of the OG Doom and wolfenstein but as far as military shooters I burned up the original Medal of Honor and Rainbow Six.
Not that I’m that old but I remember thinking Call of Duty was a Medal of Honor rip off. |

|
Delta force and Delta force 2
Non-military: Doom Quake Duke Nukem Return to Castle Wolfenstein Also played alot of command and conquer |
|
|
We played Army in the back yard.
One of my friends dad gave him a de-milled .50 that he brought over for us kids to play with. That bitch was heavy and it took 2 of us to tote it around the yard. It was a rusty old beat up POS, but we had tons of fun with it. |

I was way up top on the CLQ ranking in Quake with the name "Redmist"
Later went on to CS under the clan tag of TZLV Hence the TZLVredmist User name. Now I play Apex and have about 3500 hours in that game. I am ranked in top 200's in the world for kills across all platforms on my main. I like shooter games. |
