Quoted: Did you ruin a brisket? View Quote No, caught it early on enough that I was able to just keep an eye on it using the cheapy to watch for temp changes and then back check it with my thermapen. Brisket actually turned out really good, just ate some leftover for lunch. 11lbs, trimmed down to 8.75lbs Rendered all the trimmed fat into beef tallow. |

I've tempered knives in an old toaster oven, but not springs in a lead pot.

Contractor: "You know how you've been doing things this way for the last few months? Ok change it to this way and needs to be done by end of day Friday. But just know it may change again sometime this week. Regardless, due Friday."

Quoted: View Quote I too, have gripes with contractors C-I need that beam that frames into that existing wall on site tomorrow M-Have you measured from the CL of that new column to the face of the existing wall? C-No, why would I do that? M-because the design does not locate that 40 year old existing wall and without a field measurement I have no idea how long to make that beam (and ive been asking for that measurement for the past 4 months) C-Well make it long enough to hit the wall +8" bearing M- C-What??? |

Quoted: Heck yeah, made a big batch of that from my last brisket. View Quote From now on im saving beef fat from any beef I do. Cant believe I used to throw the trimmings away. Going to do it with pork as well. I've always saved bacon grease, just never thought to do the same with other fat trimmings. |

did you send the email asking for the measurements one time? or did you send a daily reminder until you got the measurements?
You gotta know how to deal with contractors |

Quoted: did you send the email asking for the measurements one time? or did you send a daily reminder until you got the measurements? You gotta know how to deal with contractors View Quote Marked up in a dark ass cloud on the first set of erection drawings I sent out for approval. Many, many emails asking for it after the drawings were returned "approved" without a single measurement I requested provided several phone calls and about 4 or 5 teams meetings. I'm used to dealing with your average contractor, most of them have a lot on their plate and they are getting requests for information from every trade on the job. Shit gets missed, emails go unanswered and usually a phone call or a second email gets the question answered. This guy is just exceptionally stupid. Almost would be worth the flight to Ohio just to go down there and show this guy how to hold a tape measure. |

View Quote I wouldn't have a huge issue with it if it weren't for the fact that it's essentially 24 additional documents dealing with a ridiculous amount of information. If it were a small job, sure. But this is no small job. |

Just email it back blank with a note at the top saying 'directions unclear, dick stuck in toaster'

Hate chicken.
No leftovers in the fridge and it's one of the few fast food places that is still semi-decent. |

Quoted: you temper springs in a lead pot? View Quote Yep, just had an article accepted that covers tempering of spring material. It's the heat and not the medium. Springs can be tempered in ovens or even nitre-salt bluing tanks. It's just a matter of what you have and most chuters have lead pots. |
