3" 8 shot airweight for a women. No pics.

all of them at once
Velocimag, Stinger, stuff like that otherwise. |
|
Probably any of them. Aguila 60 grain SSS subsonic really does tumble in flight too. Living room distance, and it tumbles. That would be as good of a choice as any.
|
|
Those solid copper CCI loads might work. They’re something like 19 grains at 1800fps. Good luck finding some though.
Otherwise… Velocitors, Stingers or MiniMags. |

I would go look at ballistic gelatin penetration and expansion for a short barrel, but here is a free bump in case one of the GD autists can regurgitate or link that info up.

Federal just came out with a new .22lr cartridge designed for self defense. I think it's called Punch but not sure. I haven't tried it yet but on my next long break from work I'm going to see how it does in my M and P .22 pistol. Might be worth a look, OP

Wasn't there someone loading 22 LR bullets in a 12 gauge shotgun shell? I vote that.

CCI Stinger or any of the other hyper-velocity offerings. MAKE CERTAIN whatever she chooses will load, shoot and eject from her gun. Try to get her to run at least a hundred (preferably two hundred) rounds through it to vet the ammo/gun combination, learn to confidently hit a bad-guy size target at practical distances and learn to load and empty her gun efficiently.
Please start with the FOUR ABSOLUTES of safe gun handling. |

Don’t know if you can find the remington yellow jacket anymore, but I would look for them stinger’s of something along that line.
Think speed and a bullet that deforms |

I just bought some Winchester "Silvertip" segmented HPs (at WallyWorld of all places.) Don't know much about it, but it was in stock and I thought I would give it a try.
"1 Segmenting Hollow Point Achieves devestating energy transfer by splitting into four pieces upon impact, while the bullet base still achieves deep penetration. 2 Optimized for Short Barrels Powder is tailored for common personal defense firearms to deliver the velocity required to initiate segmentation upon impact." Fast Defensive reloading a 22LR though is something I would like to see Maybe a good Miculek challenge! Do they make speed clips for 22LR Airweight? |

Something made by CCI, which IME is the most likely to go bang when the hammer drops.
This is the reason that I think WMR should be the only .22 rimfire to consider for defense. In general, it seems to be made with much more care and is more likely to have priming compound around the entire rim. The enhances terminal ballistics while still having minimal recoil also doesn't hurt. |

These two should be near the top:
Aguila Interceptor 40gr @1470 fps and 195ft/lb Aguila Supermaximum 30gr @1700fps and 193ft/lb Both have slightly more energy than Stingers (4ft/lb and 2ft/lb respectively). Good luck finding either because I haven't been able to find them for 5+ years. |

Put 'em in an A180, I imagine most any would do if you hit 'em 40 or 50 times.

Out of a pistol I don’t think any will expand but I’m voting for Velocitor.

Early this year I bought an LCP II in .22LR mainly because I wanted a pistol that would fit in a swimsuit or workout shorts pocket. I was going to get a .380, but there was no ammo anywhere to be found and I had a pile of .22.
CCI Mini Mags have been perfect so far and it’s what I carry. |

.22 HP is the best short range sniper round of all time, any of them work well if you can hit the head. If you can't you better have a big dog or something a little more stout.

Quoted: .22 for self defense..LOL View Quote 1. The presence of a gun stops the majority of bad encounters. 2. Bad guys rarely opt to stick around for a gun fight. 3. People carrying a gun for self defense are not required to chase down the bad guy and put them behind bars. They simply need to break contact. 3. A gun that someone is comfortable with beats a deadlier caliber they are afraid of or incapable of shooting accurately. 4. .22 has a sizable body count attached to it. lol |

Because it's pricy, and if you had some you could sell it for good money and buy a better gun. |

Forget the Federal Punch. The boxes I shot were standard velocity, 1070 fps. Not sure what the point is.

OP, ignore the peanut gallery. My wife carries a .22lr Ruger LCR loaded with Velocitors.
I’ve been carrying an LCP II in .22 on and off. I have seen plenty of dead people who were ended with a .22 and none of them complained. |
