WOW. I don't play any more but just the freedom to play how you want, the emersion, the community, the story lines, the history. Honestly I think it's the best game of all time. I quit a bunch of times due to bad expansions but always just led back in for at least the beginning of the next expansion for fun. Been a few years now though.

If I had to pick one, probably Homeworld.  That was the game that got me hooked on PC gaming.

Honorable Mentions:
Homeworld 2
Borderlands 2
Supreme Commander/Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
Sins of a Solar Empire

Commander Keen.  Played the original on PC in the early 90ies.

A few years back got the entire series for like $4 during a Steam sale.

Can't pick just one.

Home Video Games:
Goldeneye 007
Waverace 64
Doom
Super Mario Brothers
Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed (2000ish) - I don't think it was very popular, and the graphics were nothing compared to today's racing games, but I loved that game.  I had a decent Logitech wheel and pedals (I think the game came free with the wheel), and I spent an embarrassing amount of time working my way through that whole game.  The driving physics were excellent, and the feedback through the wheel was awesome.  You started with a 356, and worked you way up through the various Porsche models through the years, including some of their famous monsters, like the Moby Dick, the 959, etc.  The race car you got at the end was awesome.  I think it was called a 911 GT1, if memory serves.

Galaga

The only one I've ever played~

Pong.

Dad brought it home and hooked it up to the tv.
Always got bored and went outside with my Daisy.
It was ok on winter nights, or rainy days.

Damn know there's a trip down memory lane. Black is the game that's basically gun porn right?
Which Syphon Filter? Or do you mean the whole series?

This was a gamechanger for me just because of the 3D renders. It really felt like you were a part of the game back in the day:

Made by Id Software. Nice.

I see they released it on Game Boy Color so I should have it at home. I'll check it out. ??

I hardly play anymore but back in the day the game I enjoyed playing the most is Day of Defeat.

It was the WWII mod for Half-Life back then.  I think they eventually made a stand alone version.

They re-released this last year on Nintendo Switch. They give you the option of playing in regular mode(still pictures), or moving freely around in 3D. It's pretty neat, but I haven't had enough time to really get back into it yet.

Lots of great memories from this game, though.

It's harder than I thought to pick the top game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Half Life
Deus Ex

I've played those games start to finish several times each.

So awesome but it must be played on PC. The PS3 port was absolute garbage. The DLC was literally unplayable. Once your save game file reached a certain size the game would just crash.

Mass Effect.  Would have to lump the entire series into that. 2 was probably the best, but the entire series is what makes it so great because of the story told.

2. Skyrim
3. KOTOR
4. Ultima 7
5. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2.  (Mostly 2)

Call of Duty. My Playstations have basically always been CoD boxes.

Buy new CoD, play it for a year, buy new CoD, repeat. I can't get into any campaign/solo type games. I lose interest really quick any time I try. I prefer to be able to jump into CoD multiplayer for a half hour, have some mindless fun, then turn it off.

Overall:
1. Fallout
2. Grand Theft Auto
3. Halo (original on PC)
4. Half Life
5. Kerbal Space Program

To break that down for the series:
1.1 Fallout New Vegas
1.2 Fallout 4 (barely)
1.2 Fallout 3

2.1 GTA 5
2.2 GTA Vice City
2.3 GTA San Andreas
