Zombie (1979) directed by Lucio Fulci is the movie you seek.

Even has a zombie fighting a shark, which is one of the coolest zombie scenes ever in my opinion.

ETA: Does have a little nudity in it, just FYI since kids are watching.

Not a movie, but "Santa Clarita Diet" is pretty hilarious.  Seth Bullock/Raylon Givens is awesome in his role.

Trash.
Dumpster full of diapers on fire-level trash. Cartoonish trash.
While technically not a zombie movie, I think 28DL is the benchmark for the modern zombie film.
SOTD was fun. Zombieland sucked - neither funny, nor scary. Return of The Living Dead set the bar for zombie comedies.  Train To Busan and it's animated prequel Seoul Station were both solid, as was The Sadness. (Though again, The Sadness wasn't technically a zombie movie.)
For goofy animated fun, High School of The Dead was pretty cool.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is one of the more fun zombie movies I have seen in a while.

I really like the tall blonde in the movie.

The mention of zombie strippers reminded me of this one, since it too features a zombie stripper, and all movies are better if they feature at least one.

The Walking Deceased has zombie strippers.    It's a spoof of most of the most popular zombie flicks.

Here is the full movie for free on youtube.

Not a zombie flick but if you really want to scare your kids or most adults watch The Descent.  College friends explore an unexplored cave system only to find out something else lives in the cave.  Very graphic but no nudity or anything like that.  Even the second one was good.

Liked it a lot... even though, if you read "I Am Legend," you knew what was coming.

I though the sequel was even better. Went right over the top without a hint of apology.

Night of the Living Dead, original and remake (Tom Savini really did a great job).

Modern zombie movies and shows always drop the ball, always have characters do incredibly stupid things to put themselves in peril. Still waiting for Steven Kings ‘Home Delivery’ to be made into a movie. Fuck SK, but it was a cool story.

The Crazies remake.

Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty good too.

28 Days Later.

Black Summer on Netflix is a pretty damn good zombie show. Much more realistic than TWD.

Word War Z (the book), was fairly good.  It was a intended to be a (fictional) documentary written towards the end of the Zombie war.  It compiled first hand accounts from individuals around the world.  It was presented chronologically, but each chapter was a different story in a different place.  The author was trying to explore how the people of different nations would respond differently.  I don't recall all the separate stories, but do recall it kind of went full circle - it did get back to the US, but I think it might have been to look at the difference between US city culture and US rural culture-which almost describe 2 different Americas.   Hollywood took the name, and maybe 10 seconds from the original material.  Honestly, the book would be a pain in the ass to make a movie out of, and expensive to make a series out of (although that would at least work).  Every story in the book had it's own individual characters and location.  If it was done as a series, each season could be its own story - but you just could not compress it into a movie format.  It was one of the worse adaptations of a book I have watched.  But Hollywood had to do a goverment will save you with a covid vaccine type movie, rather than people will prevail when goverment fail or abandons them.

I came to post Dead Snow.  Not the best, but a very fun horror flick.  Many newer Zombie movies kind of suck.  They are supposed to represent the dread of impending doom - not be war flicks with fast Zombies.  A different look that I laughed at was Warm Bodies.  We all are just zombies after all.

I was really jaded by all the zombie movies but the zombies in WWZ actually made me jump. The speed, ferocity, and single minded focus to spread the infection freaked me out. Lots of movies give you time to think "that's lame. I would have done that different " but in Z no one had time to react to attacks.
