Smith & Wesson SW9M.
Even they knew it. Discontinued and replacement approved with a better, actually functioning model sent on calling customer service. Not even good for a boat anchor. |

Miroku Winchester Model 1895 in .30-06
beautiful rifle but it kicked like a mule and shot about 2.5in at 50yds |

Sig P226. I traded arm & leg for that thing. Saved up while in college for it. I took it to the academy with me. It just had too much muzzle flip from being so top heavy. I loved the the way it felt in my hand but the best scores I could get were in the low 90's range. Second round follow up was slower than it should be.
I sold it and bought a G21 but it was too big and I went back to a G22 which I carried for several years. I had to carry a 9mm at one department and bought a G17 and carried it. Now I carry a G23. Am I a Glock fan? A little bit but I have found few pistols that fit my hand right and have a low bore axis too. As for the poster who says the P7 needs a death grip. Not really if you push out with your strong hand and pull in with your weak hand. Even if your holding light with your strong hand the weak hand will hold the cocking mechanism back. I found they shot great but don't expect to shoot a box of ammo very fast as they heat up rather quickly and can get uncomfortable. |

Benelli Super Nova.
Don't know why I let the gun counter jockey talk me into that. |
|
I impulse bought a side folding AK one day. I want to say it was a WUM-1, but it's been a while, and I don't know too much about AK's.
It shot fine, I never had any issues with it, but it still just sat in my safe for years before I sold it. For whatever reason it just didn't blow my skirt up, and I had no desire to shoot it. I wanted to like it, but I didn't. Hopefully it's current owner likes it. My first pistol was a Para Ordinance P14. I don't think I have to expound on that one. |
|
G19 I had, didn't do anything better than my G17 which is my secondary and nightstand and is too big to carry appendix unlike my G43X which is my EDC.
And the AR9 that I had, god that was awful and didn't do anything better than any of my AR15's. But I am thinking about getting a Hipoint 9 carbine with a High Tower bullpup chassis just for fun |

|
lcr 22. horrible trigger pull of 15+lbs. ended up using it to train my finger until i got tired of it an sold it
cz82...bought it because i thought it looked nice and considered carrying it. didn't realize how bulbous the grips were and eventually sold without firing a round. |

The generally poor accuracy of the Mini-14 rifle. The ones I have had have been very reliable, but accuracy was very disappointing. I was a fool and sold an early Mini-14 that I glass bedded (as is done with the M-14 and Garand) and had a trigger job done on, and it would shoot 1.125-1.5 MOA at 100 yards (I would only rarely get a 5 shot 1 MOA group, so I can't claim that the rifle shot 1 MOA groups). But groups of 1.125 weren't unusual, the norm was 1.25-1.5 MOA...and like a dumb ass I sold it.
The rifle had a Burris 3-9 duplex scope in custom mounts (remember this was nearly 30 years ago) on it. That is one of the very few firearm sales I wish I hadn't made. |
|
AMT Backup DA - Actually had dreams about needing it for self defense and not being strong enough to pull the trigger.
Tec-9 - Worst reliability ever. M1 Garand - Non-sulplus brand new from Springfield Armory. Shot it in NRA highpower but every stinking time I shot it the rear sights would come loose to the point of falling off. On the other hand I love my HK91 and P7, and my Gen 3 G19 has been my ultra relaible carry gun for over 20 years now. |

Quoted: Around 1997 or so, I bought a brand new Colt 1991A1 Stainless. It was a completely unreliable piece of shit. It was unlikely to even get through a single magazine without a jam. Without a doubt the least reliable firearm I have ever owned. View Quote You too? Was it 38 Super? That was one of my biggest disappointments. I blame Colt. For the Taurus titanium 7 shot 357, I blame myself. I bought a Taurus. |

1911, especially Kimbers. Heard so many great things about 1911s, then after a good amount of money spent on multiple ones I found out they are big, heavy, and finicky. At least they have low capacity and are expensive.

Sig Mosquito, That thing could only fire consistently with top tier ammo, but was not a gun you buy top tier ammo for, so it get launched.
Sig P250. Really wanted to like this gun, but in the end it was a blah. Shot just fine, but trigger pull was longer than necessary, albeit light enough to get past with some practice, Modularity was cool, it Sig screwed us on the proposed 20 and 16 round mags, though I did have 3 of the16 rounders as they worked fine. In the end sold it cheap and bought another Glock |

SIG Mosquito....I so wanted that pistol to work.
Quoted: Miroku Winchester Model 1895 in .30-06 beautiful rifle but it kicked like a mule and shot about 2.5in at 50yds View Quote I have a original 1895 SRC in .30 Army (.30-40 Krag) and yeah, it thumps me pretty damn hard. To be honest I've never quite warmed to it. Accuracy is not much better than yours but it's 120 years old (1901) and to be honest the sights are crap for older eyes. Attached File |

Mini-14......
Even with a scope its groups were twice the size of my M-14 with irons. We parted ways. |
|
Glock 44, 43X MOS, Beretta 92 Compact Inox all felt good in the hand but triggers were horrible.

Every 1911 I've owned and every AK I've owned. I want to like them, but just can't.
Definitely have to add my 11-87 Supermag to the list. Bought it from a friend, who in hind sight, probably knew it was having issues. Took me a while to finally diagnose and repair the problem. It might be rated 3.5s and not blow up, but the shell latch sure as hell isn't. |
|
Smith Enterprises Crazy Horse rifle, accuracy was atrocious.
|
|
Anything Coharie. I’ve owned numerous versions of them. All problematic.

|
My only real piece of shit is a first generation LCP. It was a hand me down from my dad, who also found it to be a piece of shit.
He thought maybe I could hit something with it. I could. I could throw it more accurately than it shot, with less pieces coming off. I would give that piece of shit away. But I like my friends. |
|
Sig P238. Couldn't get through a single mag without a jam. Sent it back to Sig TWICE. They kept replacing the recoil spring. When I called after their 2nd failure to fix it, they said I was using the wrong ammo. It will only shoot Federal A.E.
Total BS. Sold it off for 1/2 what I paid for it. |

HK Roller Lock Pattern Guns
HK P7 SIG P22X Series (except for the P239) Any handgun made by CZ |

Dang- forgot about a Bobcat Arms (?) MP-5 clone. What a POS. When I opened it up to see grinding marks on parts to make it fit I knew it was not gonna be good...did not work like an MP-5 should at all.
SIG 220. Had two at one point, needed to be fairly competent with SIGs as I was instructing a lot and SIG was the #2 gun in popularity at the academy. Excellent guns, well made, will last forever, but I just could not quite ever get used to a heavy double action on the first round. A consequence of learning my skills on Glocks I think. So I traded them both off...regret that. One became a Glock G36, the single stack .45 ACP. Turns out that the G36 was one of Glocks most problematic models. I could not run two qual runs (100 rounds) without at least 1-2 malfunctions using good ammo. Worst Glock I ever owned, and that model is not known for reliability, although I believe they did some fixes on it. Maybe it just points to not buying a new model gun until the kinks are worked out... Bushmaster ARM pistol. Didn’t work, seemed really cool, reality was a let down. I didn’t know how to tinker with it at the time so I traded it. Really wish I had kept that one as I am certain with the knowledge I have now I could make it run much better... |
|
Back in the early 90s I had a Llama double stack 1911ish in 45. It would not even feed FMJ reliably. Like wouldn't make it thru a mag. Not even once.
I took it to the local old Fudd shop and he worked his 1911 magic on it and it still wouldn't feed FMJ. I had a Jimenez 22 I trusted more than that Llama. |

CZ vz. 52 pistol.
If you look out on the wide expanse of the Internet, you will find people extoling the virtues of the vz. 52 pistol, and how it is oh so superior to the mundane TT-33. Don't listen to them. It is a bizarre pistol with ergonomics designed for nobody, an operating system that had never been used on a handgun before and would never be used on one again, and which has issues with poor metallurgy on important parts of the gun. Poor quality rollers flatten out and trash the barrel. Firing pin breaks at the drop of a hat. The decocker becomes unreliable and turns into a second trigger. And yes, you read that right, it's an SAO handgun with a decocker. Why? Who knows. I can only assume the Czech designer of this gun was on some serious drugs. As a historical collectible, it has value. If you just want to shoot 7.62x25, go buy a TT-33 variant and don't look back. |
|
Ruger Mini30 7.62x39. Always had minimum 20% light primer strikes on steel cased ammo. I emailed Ruger. They told me to only use brass cased ammo. Who would buy a 7.62x39 that only runs on high dollar ammo? I loved that gun but finally got rid of it.

The CZ P07
Frame warped to the point where the dust cover would jam the slide. This happened during the handgun forum moderator John Wayne's 1000 round challenge. So the melt down was reported here. CZ replaced it, and I sold it to fund an HK |

For me it's an Armalite AR10 that I bought as part of an Arfcom group buy back in 2005 or thereabouts. The rifle is a 20" stainless barrel flat top upper and I also bought an additional 16" flat top upper for it.
I put a very nice (and expensive) Leupold "tactical" scope on the 20" upper and was using a removable carry handle on the carbine upper. even put together a Pelican case for the whole rig, with room for mags and a bipod. It was a jam-o-matic right from the start. It would fire three or four rounds and then it would simultaneously stove pipe the spent round and jam the new round from the mag past the spent casing, forcing it low and ramming the bullet back into the case neck. I figured it was a gas issue so I tried the carbine upper (each upper has its own bolt carrier and bolt) and it does the exact same thing. Either both uppers have the same misaligned front sight base or similar, or there is a problem with the lower. At the time I was busy taking up a new gun hobby with NFA toys, and the AR10 sat in the safe waiting for me to ship it back to Armalite, who at the time had a lifetime warranty. A few years later I was going to ship it to them when I discovered the company had been sold and the lifetime warranty was no more. It's still in my safe. I don't know whether it's something like a bad or wrong recoil spring, something with the buffer or buffer tube, or if it's something like a machining error on the lower. It could just be that both uppers are identically under or over gassing it but that seems less likely. I don't even know if the new Armalites are compatible with the ones from the Mark Westrom era. I do intend to get it running. I can't sell it in good conscience as it is, and if it were running and reliable it wouldn't be for sale. Yeah it's my fault for not addressing it with them right away. No denying that. |

Franchi SPAS 12. Incredibly cumbersome and heavy. Probably the only thing it's good at is looks.

I know that I'm bucking the trend, but my biggest disappointment with a firearm was the CZ75.
I lusted for one when I first saw them in the Bitburg, GE Rod & Gun shop. We had a lot of pilots buying them for Desert Shield/Storm because they were still being issued the old .38s. On E3 pay, I couldn't afford one......going out every weekend and drinking probably didn't help. I kind of forgot about the CZ75 for almost 2 decades, and my interest was resurrected after reading all the positive comments here on Arfcom. I was in a much better financial position, so after a couple of days to think about it, I bought one. Meh. Everyone talked about the CGW trigger....so I bought one. Trigger was lighter, but still mushy. Everyone talked about how XXXX thin grips made it feel like a different gun, so I spent the money and the grips made it look nicer, but it didn't change the feel. Accuracy was fine, but nothing better than the G19 I was carrying. The CZ75 was heavy, didn't have a lot of easily obtained LEFT HAND holsters, and the sights were pathetically small for a combat pistol. Sold it, got most of my money back, and lesson learned--Arfcom is usually pretty good with advice/reviews, but not always. |

I'll have to say my 2015-era Marlin 1894 in .44. I had high hopes for it but shoots eight inch groups at 100 with everything I've put through it. Slugged the bore and got .432 or so lol. Really sad because as far as fit, finish, and function go it's flawless. Really nice gun until you actually try to hit something with it. In the end I guess it will do what I bought it for OK (sub-50 yard shots at whitetails in the woods) but I really miss that sense of pride that comes with good accuracy. My little Rossi 92 Trapper in .357 shoots circles around it.
|
|
Rossi lever action in 454 Casull. My Freedom Arms 454 Casull was much more accurate. I sold it.
Second worst is my Shockwave. It’s hard as fuck for me to hit 8 inch plates at 10 yards away quickly. I’m keeping it though because fuck the ATF. |
|
Bobcat SW5 MP5 clone pos jammed every round. Luckily I was able to get my $ back selling it at a gunshop a week later
|
|
AR-7. I was expecting James bond accuracy and got sawed off shotgun patterns. Broke even on sale with disclosure.
G40mos. Terrible accuracy, then blew up. Sent pieces to glock and got back a pretty good gun with greatly improved accuracy with the same ammo. The new barrel is holding great groups leading me to believe it was a barrel problem all along. I ordered a lone wolf just to be safe. |
