Officially? 100 yards. Unofficially (with a range finder at an impromptu range?). I wanna say 600 yards. If I've shot further (and I probably have), it's completely unverified. 300 meters on a US Army range. A little further on an unofficial (not two-way) range in Afghanistan.
Most amazing "long-range" shot I ever saw - my little brother hit a man-sized silhouette at 100 yds, with a Kel-Tec .380. |

1600 meters with my 6.5 Grendel out on some BLM land in New Mexico. that's a hell of a shot for a Grendel. Shooting at barn doors? You were probably at high elevation too, that will help but still... It was everything my Viper had and then 4 mils on the reticle. I was using 107 SMKs, too. We were up around 5400-5500 feet. I can't remember the DA that day. I was shooting at a rock that was about .5 mils wide. I actually hit it on the first round. |

How far from Temple Terrace is that? I get down there every year or so and would love to play on a 1k meter range. Also, is it public, or can just anyone join? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

1000yds. a few times at Manatee range, SE of Tampa. It's fun. Chris How far from Temple Terrace is that? I get down there every year or so and would love to play on a 1k meter range. Also, is it public, or can just anyone join? Manatee gun club and public range... It's 22 miles east of Bradenton. It's like $20 to shoot the 1000 yd. part and $12 to shoot out in front of that. They have an intermediate set of fixed targets that were supposed to be 500 yds., but the guy measuring it screwed up, evidently, so it's...565? You can set the target frames out to any distance. Nice people. The owner Eugene 'Gene' Pitts shot 1911s for the USMC for many years, IIRC and they're as friendly as shit. First time there, it started pouring and they welcomed me into the clubhouse, asked if I wanted some breakfast, borescoped my Savage 10FP LE2b and turned me on to some bore paste that I hadn't heard of. I drive over on a Wednesday night (208 miles from me) shoot Thursday, stay at the Motel 6 in Bradenton Thursday night, shoot all day Friday and just come home. I've done that 3 times and it's fun, but for the drive, which isn't too bad. Chris |

I hit targets at 800m with an M21 with an ART II when I was stationed in Germany in the 80's.
I have also hit targets much farther out but that was with a 25mm cannon and TOW missiles from my Bradley many, many times. |

1000 meters. Best of the West range. 1st Larue range day. Thanks Mark.
Only hit I made was the first round but by golly I hit it once. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

960-some yards, I think, at ItsARanchrifle's place.
Other than that, 600 yards in highpower matches. 20" AR, iron sights. |

1000 yards with rifles as a civilian. Approximately 26 miles with artillery when I was in the military.

Maybe 300 yds.
Used to be a member here / maybe still a member that belongs to a long range civ team. My old ass can't remember his screen name. He would post pics of rifles used - the set up for the shots - etc. Again - I wish I could remember but one shot he couldn't actually see the target but a 'marker' of some sort at a set distance from the target as a reference point. Adjust / DOPE your scope and make the shot. Help me out here folks - who was / is that member ?? He had some really great posts. |

575 yards with some shitty ammo at an Arfcom members place (ItsARanchrifle)

Over a mile.
It was New Years Eve, I bladed 45º up, and fired into the distance. Had to be over a mile. The police never came. ;-) ETA: Shot 500 yards at a carbine course using volley-fire with about 8-10 shooters. Rang the gong too (at least somebody did;-) |

550. At a 24" plate so no big accomplishment. My "precision" shooting has been limited to 300. Civvy here.

1050 yards at an actual target. 1650 at a rock. Not military.
ETA- MCSA in Lewistown. |

2710 yards with 338 lapua on standard torso target. Ring came back 13 seconds after trigger pull.

300 yards. Not even a challenge with optics. I wish I had a local range that went to 1k.

1k at a range by my parents (Manatee gun club). MPMGR in the army. Pulled a couple lanyards in my day as well (if direct / indirect 155 counts)

400 yards at DARC on several occasions.
I shot "at" the 1,000 yard steel but my 12.5" AR had a little trouble with the wind at that distance. |

Shot about 1 mile with a 50Cal machine gun in the army. Bullets went about 1 mile and hit the ground somewhere.

600 yards for Highpower Rifle Competition as a civilian (They were on military ranges: Camp Perry,OH, Camp Butner, NC and Quantico MCB).
300 meters in the Army (M16 qualification) |

The furthest I have shot was a 600 yard 50 BMG match I use to shoot back when I had a 50. Best grouping I got was 17" with HSM 650 grain AMAX.

500 meters in the Army.
We only had to qualify out to 350 but after shooting a perfect 40/40 my 1SG bet me $20 I couldn't hit a target at 500. I hit it with iron sights. I don't think I could do that now. That was almost three decades ago. I rarely shoot past 100m and that's just plinking so that level of concentration is long gone. But I still only use iron sights, one of these days I want to try some optics. |
