Quoted: Never noticed it before in the 4 years I've rented here. It's hot glued right above the door. It's 1" long. There's nothing in the door right below it. Thoughts? https://i.imgur.com/AcZEMoW.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/9f1SNFM.jpeg View Quote OP, how brave are you? |

Pull it down, investigate it, bash it with a hammer to see if it’s hollow. Come on man

That's probably a half assed redneck alarm sensor.
Most are magnetically actuated. Looks like clear coat on the door is ripped up right below it making me think the sensor was double sided taped to the door. |
Is it a magnet? If so may be part of a security system. Stick on wireless door contact is gone.
It looks like it's stuck.
Get a screwdriver and pry it out of there. Sheesh, we gotta tell you guys everything? ETA: And for Gods sake, DON'T PUT YOUR LIPS ON IT! |

The thing Scully had removed from the back of her neck in X-Files....

I was closing up so i wasn't able to examine it well. If I see the landlord tomorrow I'll ask him.

Now that I think about it, it's probably a blasting cap. Choot it!
Looks like a dowel pin. I'm guessing it was part of a homebrew alarm system that worked with a magnet attached to the door right under it.

That was put there when they balanced the house, like the weights on a car wheel.

Probably a magnet for a makeshift door sensor or an alarm. Those are cheap from amazon and the hall effect sensor is easily removable. Either that or an alien probe...We are not alone.
4 years and never saw that? Do you have a condition where you stare at the ground?
Kgb anal probe tracker glued above the door to throw off the reptilian hunters.
Spy capsule. Inside you'll find a number to a Swiss bank account in Zurich where you'll find a safe deposit box with multiple passports from different countries, a few stacks of high denomination foreign and US currency and a Glock with 3 extra mags.

Fire sensor. When the flames heat the glue above its melting point, the metal dowel pin will drop to the floor.
Looks like a straight roller out of a roller bearing assembly...especially with both end radiuses the same...
It's an alien horseshoe. What you have to ask yourself is if it was put up there for luck, or as a means to summon the mothership?
