A2 birdcage is enough sound suppression for me
EEEEEEeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeEEEEEEEEE |
Some AAC offerings and Rex Silentium MG7 at the moment. Probably pick up a Sandman and Turbo K here pretty soon for...reasons.
Also got a Spectre II on a .22lr AR. That count? |
yhm turbo t2, 11.5” barrel, frontier 75gr otm, no hand loads.
Silencerco Omega on a 14.7" barrel with a pinned and welded QD flash hider. I mostly shoot m193 through it. It stabilizes just fine in that barrel.
Surefire SOCOM
10.3, 11.3 and 16" I have found that of all the powders I load for 223, H335 seems to be the cleanest burning and CFE223 is some of the dirtiest running suppressed. It is very hard to beat the 55g Hornady soft point, with 25g H335 with a CCI-450/CCI-41. Those projectiles are very consistent for the price. |
2 surefire socom rc2's ( DDMk18, Geisele super duty 11.5 ) 62gr
1 Griffen recce ( PWS 11.5 ) 62gr 1 oss helix ( BCM 16 ) 77gr 1 Allen engineering aem5 ( MK12 mod 0 ) 77gr 1 JK armament form 1 SS/TI (M4gery ) 62 1 Rugged obsidian 9mm AR. ( CMMG Banshee ) 148gr 1 JK armament 22lr AR( mp15-22) Whatever cheap ammo I decide to shoot through it. |
SiCo Omega on 10.5”, 16”, and 18” in 5.56 Same Omega on 9” 300 blackout. Griffin Optimus on CMMG 8” 9mm and SiCo Sparrow on 9” dedicated 22lr upper.
I don’t hand load. I have another Omega and Saker 556k in jail, and next month should be receiving a 13.7”. I’ll have another 16” as soon as I get some more Rocksett to mount the ASR brake. |
Yhm turbo on a 16” 5.56
Silencer Omega 30 on a 10” 300 blk sbr Handload both cartridges 5.56 only really for high power matches, that rifle is not used lol but really only the 300 because it makes tuned subs cheaper. |
M4 2000
762sdn6 or what ever it is on an 8" 300blk Ops inc 12th on a Mk12 mod 0 |
I use a YHM Ti762 and NT-4 on guns from 10.5 to 20"
No handloads. |
Surefire SOCOM Mini and SilencerCo Specwar K.
Both on 10.5"s, I don't handload, but I'm shooting 77gr's through them. |

Quoted: Bunch of different surefire cans Bunch of different CGS cans Bunch of different Dead Air cans Some KAC cans Some other various cans. That’s not true at all. You can absolutely handload to help minimize blowback. I can't tell the difference between m855a1 and cheap Russian crap when it comes to sound being suppressed. Unless you're loading way underpressure you're not going to notice anything. |
If it ever gets out of jail, I'll be rocking a Thunder Beast 30 cal 7 inch.
If. I have mounts for my 12 inch T91, my 14.5 SOCOM M4, and my 300 Blackout 9 inch. |
SDN-6 on 300BLK and 6.8SPC
Saker on 14.5" and 16" Omega on 300BLK and 10.5" |

Y’all are gonna laugh at the poor chunky, but I don’t care. I wanted short for a 10.5” 5.56, so got the inexpensive Witt Machine Tu-Tu-Three. Really like. They say you don’t need an adjustable gas block, but I did and it performs flawlessly once I got it dialed in. Most that shoot it like it. And so do I. Would buy again/another.
10.5, Turbo K
AR Comp has less blowback and is a bit cleaner than factory Fed XM193 and IMI 193 |
Lots of SiCo, a couple Gemtech, a Liberty, and half a dozen Form1 builds.
Rugged Micro 30 on both my 10.5 and 16 inch.
But I bought it four years ago, before I had read/listened to Pew Science. Im hoping Jay test some of the new, lightweight 5.56 cans soon. But if I had to buy one today, I'd probably be getting the OSS Helix 5.56 |
Omega 300 on an 11.5".
edit for the k and have that on something else. |

I used to answer questions like this because i thought we were just a bunch of gun guys on the same side.
I don't believe that anymore. |

I gave up trying to get any rifle cartridge AR to suppress in any meaningful way. It looks fucking cool but the suppression is marginal unless you are willing to accept closer to handgun cartridge terminal ballistics. In which case why not go with a suppressed handgun or PCC.
That’s me. As always, YMMV. |

I’ll answer well-formulated questions in the appropriate forum. Knowing the hosts, use case(s), budget, level of experience are all helpful. Survey/popularity polling is a good way to start a pic thread though, so that’s cool. |

DA Sandman K on my SBR
DA Sandman S on my longer barrels Silencerco Omega on my bolt action Knights Armament on my SR25, SR15 rifles |
Gemtech G5 on an LMT 10.5. Don't handload. The can is just there to be polite.
Specwar for 556 on a 10.5".
It is not quiet, but it won't hearing indoors. Actually quite tolerable indoors. |
