I know right? I'm working on some 24-in mounts so I can just set it on the table and relax in my chair and aim down the sights.

I'll buy an AK again when I can pick one up for sub $500.  Ammo is too expensive for it also

Was thinking about this after I saw a post from a user about AR from 2012.

So what are the trends in AR's for 2024? Rails, optics, etc...

More rails, mlok, flash lights, extra side sights, magnification, two red dots just because and lots and lots of LARPing before mommy brings down a plate of Hot Pockets and another bag of Cheetos.

That's probably the most innovative thing I've seen for ARs in a while.  Neat .

I doubt it will take off because so many companies both OEM and aftermarket have a vested interest in the status quo but I WISH this system would "trend" in the future.

1. more robust than set screws

2. idiot proof initial install

3. changes something that was more or less a permanent install into something "quick change" allowing someone to switch the entire gas system in about a minute or two using just one cheap/common hand tool with no concerns about alignment, proper torque, set screw locking compound, etc; all while putting zero torque/stress/pressure on the barrel or having to dimple or drill holes in it.

Four MOA accuracy will become hot.

Someone will do a 1-12x and it will cost $4500

People will discover the superiority of 4-6 moa red dots and 2moa will fall from grace

Magwell grip will return to fashion.

People will rediscover what a cheek weld is and absolute cowitness will be back in.

Looks like a lot of added machining steps and expense for minuscule payoff.

Dimpled barrels and set screw gas blocks have been used in combat for quite a few years now without issue.

The biggest trend for me is I am not buying one or any parts to change them. I don't even need parts to repair.
