I see some crazy recommendations on here dealing with selling guns. Things that are above and beyond what is required by law. Stuff the gun haters would love.
I’m in the camp that I’m exchanging my property for cash. I don’t want to know the buyers name or see ID. Give me money and leave. |
|
I ask them if they're legally able to purchase and to see the cash.

I usually just take a pic of their vehicle license plate, and get a pic of their ID.
Have them sign a bill of sale. Take a DNA swab of their mouth with a q-tip. And then a quick search through the law enforcement genetic database. Actually.....I just meet them in a parking lot, ask them their name, and take the money. . |
|
I do what the law for my state requires which is to sell to a state resident and someone who is not a criminal. So I ask those two questions and if their answer is what the law requires then I accept cash.

Never asked to see ID, but I’ve asked are you legally allowed to purchase in the emails/phone convo. Also, look at license plate and double check that it is in-state. After that, just the cash.
I got hassled years ago shipping a firearm by some guys FFL that I didn’t include a bill of sale … that FFL was a royal pain. Now, I include a BOS in every box, but have never asked nor required they return and typically haven’t told the buyer I’m including in the box to their FFL. So far, all but 1 time the BOS has been returned by the buyer completed. |

Payment in the agreed upon format, whether cash, check, silver or trade. You pay me, you take the gun, I thank you.

I'm pretty sure a few years back some atf or other dipshits tried to get me in a sting off a gunbroker ad, so I know that they do that sort of shit around here. |
|
if i'm selling something, i put in the ad "fl/dl & fl/cwp with matching address". when they actually make contact, i ask them if they have those 2 items. if they affirm, i set up a meet. i don't ask to see the stuff, but i've had guys produce it, as proof. if they look sketchy when they show up, i'll bail. i always get there early, and not in the car i describe i'll be in. works for me.

Cash and a look at their CHL. I don't sell to people from out of state or that don't speak English.
It's kind of moot, really. I list guns for sale on the rifle club website to members so the requirements are pretty much a formality. |
|
Haha.
I’m glad my post inspired a thread. I’ll just read and snicker at this shit show. So many fudds doing the Feds work are among us. |

And if I'm buying and the seller asks for anything beyond cash, I laugh and walk away. |

Cash, and no physical mtg unless we agreed on price already, my background check is how they present themselves through the texting interaction.
Also, I have to say, everyone I have met buying/selling have been really nice folks. |

I remember threads from past that have never had this many ‘cash and carry’ posts. They have always been proof of id/ carry permit and BOS. Did the tide change or are they full of shit now?

When you show up with your mom driving, that's a clue. (Texas Gun Trader.) |

View Quote I agree somewhat. the BOS folks are pretty derp. After (almost) dealing with either some absolute retards documenting multiple felony attempts (straw purchase, on the edge of a college campus, with statements about illegal modifications) or some sort of sting, my priority is staying out of jail vs a quick sale. My state requires I sell to a legal purchaser from my state. So I put just that in the add. When I meet up I offer them to see my ID and I glance at theirs and so long as it doesnt say Mclovin and they dont sketch me out then we are good. |

I’m old-fashioned…
When I sell something that can be traced to me, I sell it so that the person buying it has it transferred to him/her, so the cops won’t bother me about who I sold my car, boat, etc. But, I try not to “invite the man” into my life. All my sales are usually out of state via an auction, so an FFL is always involved. |

I'll ask if they're prohibited and take cash or bitcoin as long as they claim they aren't prohibited.

I've yet to sell a gun FTF, but whenever I buy FTF, the only thing I exchange is my cash, for their item.
|
|
I've sold some guns ftf, and every time they handed me the money and I handed them the gun.
It's not my job to collected records for the government. |
|
Cash. And their first born. Figure if they don't offer the second in the transaction then they don't want the firearm bad enough to sell it to them.

I follow state and federal law - they had me money, I hand them a gun.
I do look up them and their number first to make sure Joe from wherever isn’t really Jose or Javaughantey from Milwaukee or Minneapolis. |
