Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'. I can only find a Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592. Koreans repelled. View Quote The Wokou pirates made a pretty big impact on Korean naval warfare at the time. It forced them to build better ships like the Turtle ship which helped defeat the Japanese at sea. |

Genuinely curious as they've thrown blows before. I personally think India would get wrecked, even on a defensive battle View Quote China would invade and lose an entire division in a week. Who the hell are you trying to fool. |

The roman empire collapsed because they had a sea inside and land borders on the edges of the empire. They were doomed from the start. The US has oceans on both sides and rivers for transportation internally. |

For all the folks wanting China to invade Russia, China would get the shit kicked out of it. China does not have the national character required to successfully execute an offensive land war outside of its borders. Russia is in shit shape and has never been all that competent by European standards, but that's by European standards. In a defensive war with China where they can trade land for time, they will chew the PLA up into tiny bits and four hours later they'll be hungry for another division. China couldn't even invade Vietnam, despite Vietnam being broke, unmobilized and improperly deployed to defend from a northern invasion at the time. The Russians would fuck them in a way that would require censorship for indecency. View Quote |

My money would be on China. They have a more sophisticated and longer history of intelligence/espionage tactics/operational activities as well as a larger, more disciplined military. And in the last decade they've been really increasing their naval capabilities. View Quote |

They Indians did beat the hell out of that bear the other day, so theres that. I think it would be a fair fight as long as the Chinese stoped building and using escalators/elevators and being eaten/killed by them. Indians would have to stop electrocuting themselves on top of trains and being killed by wild animals.

It would help the whole world out.
We could sell goods to both sides, less populations and an upcoming superpower will be brought down some pegs as the war of attrition over the Himalayas and Indian ocean will deplete forces. There does run that risk of knowing liberals will want to take in every freaking refugee all over the world, bonus points to the refugee with the new 1918 flu strain, ushering in the killing millions more. |

Pakistan would ally with the chicoms. View Quote In this day and age I would think if there were a nuclear exchange between 2 countries, it would be Pakistan and India to kick things off. It would not end well for Pakistan, all it would take is for the Paki's to side with any country that was taking an aggressive stance against India. India has had a hard on for Pakistan for a very long time and all it would take would be Paki's joining a coalition against India. Pakistan might get one or two off before every population centre and significant base they have were destroyed by the means of Indian nuclear ordnance. India is done playing with the Paki's. |

Whichever country ditches “ethics of warfare” and goes all-in nuclear first will win

China will "win," but the total advance of the victorious PLA will be about 6km.

aside from some backwater airports and fairly small settlements there isn't much there. the tibetan plateau for the most part is incredibly desolate. makes the grasslands of the russian steppes look lush by comparison. hell it's one the indias biggest assets in a war with china, before the chinese even start to contend with one of the largest, most rugged mountain ranges in the world they have to first deal with some of the most desolate flatlands in the world first. india happens to luck out and be on the correct side of the himlayas weather wise. How would China get its army, supplies, fuel, aircraft to its SW border? Where would they stage them when they got there? Couldnthey keep people fed? When was the last time China fielded a large force outside its borders? I figure the US makes that shit look easy, but it ain’t. ETA: they would need to get thru Bangladesh in the dry season. During the monsoon a lot of B'desh is under water. |

Neither side has force projection. I'd imagine the Chinese could bomb the tar out of the Indians, as I've never read anything about Indian ADA being competent (they seem to take a more Western approach with more interceptors).
If it was an all-in war, China would eventually win as they slowly march through either the Goose Neck in Bangladesh, or through Pakistan. They have a much better manufacturing base, whereas India does not. They'd almost have to resort to nukes to get anything accomplished. But I wouldn't cry if China, Pakistan, India, and maybe a few other South East Asian (Bangladesh, Myanmar) decided to mix it up. As long as the US doesn't get involved in it, that is. |

Unfortunately India's Air Force is composed largely of Su-30s, Mirage 2000s, and Mig-21s. I would not expect the air war to go well for them.

I do believe that India's army and warrior traditions are largely invisible to Americans. They have never been perceived as a threat so we don't hear much about them.
Bottom line on "Who would win?" is what is the goal and who initiates. If there is an invasion either way the invader will not successfully conquer and occupy. Impossible. Border clas would depend on initiator and goals. |
