Poor people are typically poor because they aren't intelligent or conscientious enough to modify bad behavior.
The value of being orderly and having standards is a blind spot for them. And when someone points it out they usually just get angry because it sounds like nonsense to them.

I’ve noticed this too. I have some trashy family and a paved driveway with a turn around. Sure as shit when they come over they part right in the grass.

The people I see doing that don’t have driveways or have too many vehicles to fit in the driveway.  I don’t tend to see them parking in the yard with a clear driveway.

Could be they want to leave the driveway clear for the car in the garage or for frequent guests/drug buyers.

Poor people tend not to care about maintaining the appearance or condition of things, which explains the lack of aversion to parking in the grass but not the motivation for doing so.

This.

Normally cars get parked on the street & driveway/garage, but when it snows they have to go somewhere. Side yard next to the driveway is the best spot for the ones that don't fit in driveway. Eventually I'll have that area done up with concrete, but for now the grass will do.

edit: Also, I grew up in the country and in & around farms. City people put waaaaay too much value into grass.

Because when you live a nice neighborhood that has well kept lawns and such. it looks like total TRASH that some red fucking red neck parks their car in the grass in the front yard...
how about that for why they care...

Typical housing tract these days the street is too narrow to park on it and you've got a whole street of 5 bdrm houses with garages that fit 1-2 cars and if you park in the driveway you have to move that car to get the garaged car out.

Plus a lot of people use their garage as shop space or even as living space. In my old neighborhood it was trendy to put your beer pub in the garage and open the garage door when you were pouring. HOA would fine you for parking on the lawn though.

One of the things I looked for this last move was driveway parking for four cars and an RV without blocking so I can use the garage for woodworking.

Meh. If i lived in a poorer area where my car might be more likely to get stolen or damaged, i would park it in the yard where i can see it and its close as well.

Cuz Muh HOA!

GD loves to talk shit on the way everyone ELSE exercises their freedoms.

People who have a problem with this are the same people that report their neighbors to HOA for installing a new shed in their backyard.

Move?

Your free to do so, just as they should be free to park their cars where ever the fuck they see fit on their own property.

I own 2 trucks & 2 cars.  My AtoB car is parked in the side yard right now, the trucks are in the 3-car garage.  I get tired of marshaling vehicles; parking in the side yard keeps one of the garage doors open.

Sorry you hate freedom, OP.

Garage access, driveway was occupied whenever it was originally parked, no where else to park. Pretty common site here in Midland, small rent house with 2-4 newish 250/2500/350/3500 brodozers out front and aabout a matching number of company trucks

Dear sir,

I am sorry to have offended you. Please accept my most sincere apologies for having caused a spike in your blood pressure. My words were foolish, and without thought. I hope someday you can forgive me, and we can be friends?  Maybe on facebook or nextdoor to start? (I’m assuming you are on both because you live in what sounds like a super nice neighborhood) Then, with enough confidence built up via social media, perhaps we can be real friends someday?

I'm not talking about parking a truck in the front yard for 15 minutes to unload a piece of furniture or even the long term anchoring of non-running vehicles on the lawn. I'm referring to the parking of daily drivers in the front yard, often even when there is ample parking space in the driveway.

I've noticed that this phenomenon seems to transcend racial and geographic (although it seems to be highly prevalent in Texas) boundaries but the one thing they have in common is socioeconomic status.

On the other hand, I never see people of higher means park in their yards. Even the successful first generation immigrants do not do this.
